CPU + GPU loop in 650D case

Hi everyone

It's been some time since I've upgraded my system, but as of lately I have been considering extending on my current CPU loop to a more comprehensive CPU+GPU loop. The problem is I have a mid tower case (650D) with a single 240mm radiator (XSPC RS). The reservoir I am using is a XSPC dual 5.25" bay res with an integrated Pump.

1) Firstly would I need to replace my reservoir, presuming I will need a stronger pump? I've been thinking of purchasing a similar dual bay res but with a separate pump that attaches on to the res?? The thing is I don't know much about pumps other than they come in various different thread sizes and with differnt tops of all sorts...

very confusing

2) Will a single 240mm Radiator be sufficient for a CPU + GPU build? I have 2xGentle Typhoon (1850rpm) on pull above the radiator... if not where could Ipossibly fit another rad? I would probs need more tubing lol

For reference, my current tubing dimensions are7/8" ID x 5/8" OD andI have a single GTX 580 but the PCB is custom... I will be using EK full cover waterblocks and backplate if all goes well.

doubt seriously a single 240mm rad would sufficiently cool both if one or the other were oc'd let alone stock. would deffo recommend at least a 120mm or another 240 for best results. I think ur current rez pump will be sufficient for the task at hand but I may be wrong. it is a pretty decent pump rez combo in its own right.

Thanks for the reply

Any idea on where I could place the second rad? I would think a 240mm rad would fit nicely near the front 200mm intake fan. I would have to remove the cage though.

Does a D5 pump support a 7/16 ID x 5/8" OD tube?

easily lol my rasa kit came with 7/16 id tubing and the dual bay pump rez combo

Interesting

That reminds me to ask for some advice regarding pumps. I know currently on the market there are two types of pumps mainly the Laing D5 and the Laing DDC (3.1 & 3.2). What are the general differences between these two? Which would you advice for a simple CPU + 1 GPU loop? I have also come across some variant Tops that offer better performance gains over the default tops? I think XSPC in particular offer a top for the DDC pumps that is suppose to increase performance and make it more quite...

I cant comment on those pumps as I have no experience with them. I can say this though my XSPC pump rez combo (which will handle a cpu/gpu loop is super quiet. I was a lil worried at first after reading some reviews and seeing its DB rating but I can say this I dont hear it at all. I have to reach up at times and touch it to feel its slight vibration to insure its pumping

you will have to use a 200mm in the front me thinks because the 240 doesnt fit unless you take out one of the optical bays as well, i have never tried it but have measured up and it doesnt look possible... + you could get a 120mm in the back so 240+200+120 is a pretty good configuration granted you using decently thick rads laing ddc 18w pumps are loud ******* but ttl has told me you can dampen them.. how? im not sure
