CPU + Fan just died, replacement?

Hey guys, here's a little backstory:
Today my CPU Fan died and I didn't notice it, so I went on playing some Borderlands 2 and suddenly I hear a sizzling sound and my PC went dark. After some tinkering I figured out that the CPU Fan died and took the CPU with it, so now here's the deal: As you can see in my Signature I want to buy a new PC with good components, but I don't yet have enough money for all the parts, so I will have to purchase a new Mobo+CPU+CPU-Cooler much earlier than anticipated. I should have enough for that, but the original plan was to do a custom liquid cooling loop for the PC, but I can't afford all the components for Liquid cooling.

So now my question is, whats the best and cheapest fan I can throw on a 4770k that I can still game with (doesn't necessarily have to be rendering), that will sufficiently cool my new CPU until I can afford my liquid cooling?

Thanks guys! :)

Edit: Boxed cooler is out of the question, several friends of mine were unable to run a 4770k with a boxed cooler without heat throttleing the CPU

You sure the CPU is dead?

Leave it alone for a bit and try again. They normally have auto shut offs to prevent them getting killed by things like this.

As said, the CM 212 is about the best you'll do on a budget

Thank you a lot, I will look into it! :)

Edit: Pretty sure its dead, and even if it wasn't, I'd need a new CPU cooler anyways ;) Thanks again for the tip! :)

If its still alive means you can spend £20 now for a cooler then save up and do a rig you are going to love with a custom loop .

I would buy the 212evo or one of the NZXT Havik coolers first then install and see if the CPU still works. If not then buy a new CPU.

Can I ask what the difference is between the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ and the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO?

Is it just the Continuous Direct Contact heatpipes and the 'worse' fan?

I'm pretty sure they both have the direct contact heatpipes. They also both come with an extra set of clips to mount a second fan. I'd just go for the 212 Evo :)

Yeah, but I think the difference is 'Continuous', which was one of the few annoying aspects of the 212+ in my opinion. Other than that I was happy with the cooler, until I got my FX-8350 and then it starts to struggle when you Overclock.
It's a cracking budget cooler though.

You guys were right, CPU did still work and I overreacted! Thanks :)

Just installed the 212 EVO and I am impressed, compared to my previous cooler (which was underdimensioned, I know) the temps are better by a huge margin :)

Thank you for recommending this cooler. Very good value for this price!
