CPU Cooler

Hi all,

1. I want to replace my stock cpu cooler with an aftermarket one. Do i remove the old thermal paste with some special stuff or with just like a bit of tissue paper?

2. Will a Corsair H100 fit into a Zalman Z11 Plus?

I'll be grateful to get an answer.

Thanks.

1. I used 70% rubbing alcohol with q-tips ( after cleaning the cpu you should with 10-15 min. before you aplly the new TIM to ensure the alcohol is vaporized )

2. It looks kind of tight

What CPU are you using, and what clocks?

H100 > H80

That arctic stuff will work great for removing the old paste, but you can get isopropyl rubbing alcohol for about $1 at a grocery store.

1. 90%+ Isoprphyl, or any other 95+ alchohol

2. really really douybt it even with modding it could be difficult to fit that there,

3. not much really but the fans are the important part of these kits,

4. yeah that will do

I have a i5 2500k and i probably wont go higher than 4ghz

Can u give me some good cooler names that I would fit into the zalman? But i would rather something like hydro series.

Your case can take 2x120mm in the roof, so an H100 may fit. I don't know for sure though and a google search hasn't turned anything up. If you want a hyrdo cooler, the H80 is your next best bet. Personally, I'd go with a tower air cooler, something like an NH-D14 if it will fit.

Would the NH-D14 get the temps lower or higher for the cpu? I f its like 2-3 degres higher than I probably would so go with the NH-D14.

I say get the nh-d14,too. It will give about the same cooling performance, but probebly be a lot quieter.

I got a H60 myself and the pump of it is a bit noisy.

Ok I'll go for the nh-d14 but not today

need some more money, but once i have the money I'll order the thermal paste remover and the nh-d14. It'll be a good replace

I think the pumps might have changed a bit since the H60. The H100 would be quieter.

The nh-d14 aslong as it fits in the case would be close in cooling and the sound might be a bit better then the h100.

Yeah financing the pc stuff is a problem for me, too.

It does become a bit of a problem for lots of people.

Still stuck with a I5 760

i5-2500k is a very good cpu from loads of people i heard and good for the buck. its better for gaming than the cheapest i7's

for sure it is but the cheapest i7 would be an 2600 which is 100 MHz faster than the 2500k, so it is a bit better but for sure worse for the buck and overclocking an 2500k makes thos performance increase worthless

but a 2600 has hyper threading which is better for like video rendering.....and so on

Correct, but it doesn't make it worse for gaming. And if you find a game that does have worse performance with HT enabled, you can always turn it off.

The 2500k is a better buy for a PC used strictly for gaming, but it's not the better CPU.
