Cpu bottleneck

Hey everyone. This is my first topic on the OC3D forums. I have just one question I feel like my current setup (AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 3.3ghz(OC) GeIL Black Dragon 4GB DDR2 800mhz Evga GTX 460 GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H)is being bottle necked by the CPU as I can barley run Starcraft 2 at medium settings in 1440 x 900. I'm not sure if it matters at all but this is all on a 500w PSU. Also would upgrading to a Phenom ii x4 relieve the bottleneck. Thank you and sorry if I didn't use proper forum etiquette I'm new to this whole forum thing.

SC2 is pretty CPU heavy so i'd say it's definietly bottlenecking, you should be able to max it on a 460 easy. Upgrading to a quad will sort it out

From what I've heard, at lower resolutions your frame-rate is based more on cpu power, and at higher resolutions your gpu will start to spread its wings and take over most of the load. Can you run at a higher resolution to see if it helps? Or is that your monitors max? Other than that, yeah I agree with Sieb

Ya, that's what I have been thinking. Do you think a Phenom ii x4 will run fine with 500w PSU?

My monitor is from back in 2007 when I bought an OEM dell computer and it's max res is 1440 x 900.

CPU is definately a bottleneck. Upgrade to x4, you won't regret it (460 is a fantastic card...the AMD dual core series are not so great processors
