CPU Advice?

So my rig is now nearly 5 years old...newest part is a 1080 replacing the Sli 780Ti.

I am starting to research for a November build (not sure if I will build or get it made yet,. I did build my sig rig) so its been a few years since I looked at the "tech"

Could someone give me a quick soldiers 5 on the differences between the Intel/AMD CPU stat atm please?

Pretty much building for gaming...

Is gaming still a 1 core thing? I see the new i9 is 16 core!!!

Cheers...

Get Ryzen 6 or 8 core, save yourself some money and have the ability to actually upgrade to a newer chip without having to buy another motherboard again untill 2020.

I just cannot recommend intel with their nonsense and Amd is just beating the snot out of them with value for money, yeah they aint as fast clock for clock but once you above 100fps in games it hardly matters does it.

Like Dark KnighT said above; AMD all the way man. Plus, they are soldered and more efficient, in comparison to Intel. Which (still) uses toothpaste on their CPUs.

if you have money to squander - go intel (with a delidded chip), and enjoy the benefits.

if you are on a budget - go AMD, and use the savings for other component upgrades

Sold

Cheers...

I think I am sold on AMD now for the chip and will turn my new gaming rig into my photo editing rig as well and ditch the Mac...
