Cosmos 2 - two questions

Hi, I don't know how to screw fans to the top or side panel of the Cosmos 2. The screws don't hold the fans up. I've tried all the screws included with the case and some of them are too big while others aren't thick enough to keep the fans up.

Second question, I'm using the front 200mm that came with the case and a 120mm in front of the hdd tray. I use the bottom trays for my drives and so don't need to top ones. Does it really make a big performance difference removing the trays to allow better air flow because I'd like to leave them in because it looks better when the trays are in.

They do restrict airflow, I'd personally take them out.

What I always do is get a Scythe Bay Rafter adaptor to mount my HDD's in the 5.25" bays and take out the drive cages completely, though for you this isn't necessary as you have a basement for the drives anyway

Okay well another reason why I want to put them back is that I'm noticing dust gathering as well, so the drives would kind of be a dust barrier. Would it restrict airflow enough to make a visual performance difference? I've also got two fans on the side and one on the top in addition to exhaust

Dust get's through everything, even some dust filters so let alone those pretty big holes in a HDD cage. So no, that would not help.

But if you are using fans in the side panel to cool your GPU(s), it should not be a problem. Not even sure if there would be any difference in temps at all, the only way to find out is to try

Okay thanks I'll try that out. Only thing now is to find out what screws I need for the top and side panels. I'm using cable ties to hold them up at the moment lol

Didn't you get a little book with the case?

As for the dust; try to have more intake than exhaust as it creates a positive air pressure, which should blow the dust out of the case.

Ye i did but it doesn't say anything about fan installation which I would expect because you shouldn't need an instruction manual to screw fans in. But the holes at the top are just too wide so the screws just slip through... I must be doing something wrong

Well, as long as they screw in the fan it shouldn't matter that it goes straight through the case. Tight is tight

Usually screws come with the fan though, not the case
