Corsair Obsidian 350D

Hi,

so now I have seen this done a few times now. How do you paint the corsair fan rings green? I am currently getting together a green theme machine and I really like the look of the green rings just wondering what the best way is.

Thanks

Yeh when I did it, I found a few builds but info was limited and most were in the states, where they used a spray paint not sold (allowed) in the UK.

So I used Rust-Oleum Mode Spray Paint - Lime Green (I think?). I'm not 100% on the colour, but I do know it was an almost perfect match, and so did the cabling too!

Looks much better, but that front I/O and Sata cables could be hidden better.
The colours look really good now though.

Except for the lighting, which is a different shade of green. Besides, coloured lighting will only wash out the other colours (especially when it's dark) so might I suggest white caselights?

Other than those two points, this build is really cool :)

Thanks man. I agree, the green LEDs weren't quite right and this is amplified in my pics too. In reality, the colour difference isn't too noticable and the LEDs give more of a green hue rather than the actual spots visible in the pics. Perhaps I will try white someday, but right now it works.

Cheers, ill look into it.

From what I've read, I can occupy slot 1 + 2 + 3 and still benefit from dual channel with 12GB (3x 4GB sticks).

I would be interested where you read that. Because though you can run 3 sticks i would imagine you might be able to get dual channel from 2 sticks (not very likely). All 3 is impossible. My educated guess is that you get no dual channel at all.

In the end it's propably not even that big of a difference perfomancewise. But as has been said before Dual Channel can only be enabled with 2 or 4 sticks. Check your manual.

Having said that the build looks really nice. (I would support the suggestion for white lighting though). I really like the paint job on the fans and the cable sleeves.

This is gonna look amazing once the video card shows up (looks great even as is). Why did you go for spraying the rings as opposed to dying them?

Looks good mate!

May I ask, what paint did you used for the fan rings? Ask as I'm going to do something similar to yourself but have the Sniper.M3 (Z77), though not as powerful or with a window unfortunately.

Again, nice build! :thumb:
