My money is on that path. I don't however think it will be thicker, it just wouldn't really benefit anyone. Plus if it's only 27mm it still leaves people enough clearance to go push/pull in a 750D/730T/760T/780T which means double the fan sales. Nobody can resist sticking 6 Corsair fans on if the have they space.
Also note that with the big block comes a difference in radiator construction.

hmmm... people who upgrade to the newer coolers can buy the adapter and fit their older one to their gpu. Thats the only cost effective way i see it being used. I suppose a full custom loop wouldnt be exactly cheap but spending ~$300 on multiple closed loop coolers is getting close to telling yourself to just go custom loop

I like the looks of the new coolers, but when I do my upgrade I will be going back to a full custom loop as the H100i that I have currently cannot keep my 3930k cool enough when overclocked.
Luckily my dad won't need the 3930k overclocked when I give it to him so it will be fine for that.
Eventually a company will come out with some decent AIO's for people with bigger cases.

This is just my weird mind... but won't really braided hoses collect more dust rather than just simple "rubber" (?) hoses, like on the old ones? ...
I actually did this on an Silverstone fan, on the braided cable and man that was a pain in the fcking arse!... if it's the same thing on these, then there's no way I'd actually give it a go. If fan cables were that much of an hassle, I don't even want to start to imagine what these big ass tubings would be like

Looks like it goes into the fitting though so it will be a warranty voiding manoeuvre to rip it off and probably just as elaborate to do as re-tubing it.

It probably won't show the dust as bad but then when you dust it all the fibres off your cloth will stick into it and make it look furry and stupid. Braided cables don't seem to pose a problem to dusting so maybe it will be ok in that respect.
