Corsair CX600M for Overclocking?

Hey guys, first time poster here.

I've searched these forums for info on the Corsair CX600M as this is the PSU that I've chosen for my CyberPower build. So far I've heard so-so to fairly positive reviews considering its price point.

The problem is that I have a 3770K which I'm desperate to OC with a Corsair H100i and I've heard the CX600Ms aren't so hot when it comes to voltage tweaking. The PC is now built and it's too late to swap the PSU out in favour of a tougher model.

Would you guys know what my prospects are for OCing? Am I safer to wait and swap it out once I receive the PC? I don't fancy frying my MoBo after the first week

welcome to the OC3D forums.

you should consider it is a relatively budget builder PSU and although is rated bronze
can handle some thrashing, but also dependent on other hardware selected.

CPU overclocking really doesn't lean on the PSU, you just want to assure clean
usable power to the mobo for constant proper voltages to the CPU. ripple current
on a PSU can damage components under a load, so how does that choice stack
up to others in a ripple test? that's a concern as wattage output and load sensing.

Hi Louis,

Just FYI: For a few months starting last fall I had a 2600k successfully @ 1.385 V and 4.6 GHz (or something similar, not quite sure on the clock frequency anymore) on an HX520 from 2007 that's been running pretty much 24/7 for the past few years.

Worked without issues. Took it down again because I had to cannibalize my cooling loop for another build a few weeks ago.
