Pah beginning to get fed up of pointless huge PSU's. Yes I have an 1100w one, but I have it for the quality of the PSU. My PC only draws 350-400w at full load from the socket
Looks like a nice psu, if not a tad expensive! I draw the line around a tonne (£100) for a psu. I want the one I buy next to last me 2 years though...
Mr. Kemp, dare I say - are you not being hypocritical? Surely there are equally high quality, lower wattage psu's?
Stop press: You have a high end rig, you only draw 400w! I could get away with using the Corsair for some time then, I'm just tempted to drop £120 on that enermax 720w as that would last longer... Sorry to be off topic.
I am hating the fact I bought a blue psu, fine when everything is blue, annoying as hell when you change your rig. (apologies as I have stated this in the last few replies I have made on psu's)
Now I'm looking at dropping £100 on a new one. A black one. Or one that is so bland it just fades into nothing. An invisible psu with chameleon sleeving that adapts to every rig would be nice. tbh, imo (guess which thread I just read)
While 98% of rigs do only pull 500w as an absolute maximum. There is still a need for more. As ive said numerous times, highly overclocked quads dissipate in the region of 300w, and that heat has too come form somewhere. Add in a pair of 8800ultras, 4 sticks of ram, 3/4 hard drives, 2 ODD drives, water cooling, high end (im thinking delta) fans and i think you'd break 500w.
Having said that a Good 7/800w would probably cope without sweating...
In my reckoning 600-800w, dependant on the components, should be plentiful.
and Mr Smith, what about this (2nd one down, 750 in black). You'd never need a new PSU again! (Untill ATX 3 or w/e)
