coolermaster sickleflows are REALLY loud!

Well, recieved my new 120mm case fans today in prep for the watercooling to begin on my new 2011 rig, heres my views:

Incase it hasn't been covered before, coolermaster sickleflow fans are not as quiet as they make themselves out to be on the box (27d.b +/- 10%) ive taken a reading with a d.b. meter and they come in at 40 d.b. on stock 12v config, the one thing is though that they really do shift air very very well and the lighting on the fans is perfect for a stealth config with a bit of illumination. I will try on a 7v molex to 3x3 pin adapter next week and take the new readings then, but i would be shocked if the fans wern't quiet on a 7v adapter.

One point to note about these fans also, the screwholes are EXTREMELY tight with the stock screws provided, and the screwheads are made of a very poor material, and tend to bite into the head itself, ruining the screw and possibly the screwhole itself also.

overall, for 4.20(GBP) per fan on novatech, im not too unhappy with the overall quality of the fan, but i just wish manufacturers would start giving realistic d.b. ratings on their products, as the only way to achieve their stated levels is be running on 7v adapters, and thus losing out on CFM.

I'd never touch those fans, too loud for my liking. The Bitfenix Spectres and Xigmatek XLF's are much more up my street; Silent, good lookin' and they move a large amount of air. For watercooling fans you gotta go for silence and airflow over everything else, no point having a noisy fan with a cool looking watercooling rig, it would ruin it for me

this is true, although with my colour scheme and budget, its limited me to 3 fans, coolermasters, spectres or sythes, and for me, needing green LED fans (which dont forget i could only get standard spectres not spectre pros) it was the best i could afford, but undervolting the fans will bring less noise and good airflow plus good looks

i ordered 2 120mm red sickleflows from Novatech about 4 weeks ago, i waited for 2 weeks without hearing or getting anything, so i contacted them on their "live help" app thingy only to

be told the fan's were not in stock when the order was placed and they still were not available. But they would be within a week, and did i want to wait. I didnt mind waiting a bit longer so i

said Yes.

So another 2 weeks goes by and they still havent arrived and Novatech have not emailed to let me know whats happening so i contact them on the app thingy again just to be told they

still dont have the 2 fans!!! but they said they had 1, in they're Bristol depot!! did i want that!!! lol

@blaindev, So how long ago did you order yours??

Im very unhappy with Novatech!!!

I know its just 2 fan's but it so easily could have been something more expensive! They made no effort to let me know they would not be delivered because of stock shortage.

I wish i paid a bit more and got them somewhere else

3 of mine turned up yesterday, with 2 more to arrive on tuesday next week, i rang them and theyre giving me a 10 pound online voucher and theyre not invoicing me for the other 2 fans + free 24 hour delivery (dont forget im in belfast, dont qualify for free next day postage

) so give them a ring, it aint Novatech's fault btw, every online retailer is out of stock of the coolermaster fans at the moment, coolermaster are having trouble getting stock made quick euough to satisfy demand

I have 2 as intake fans and they are 100% quiet. My computer is 3 feet from me and i cant here a thing. They are the loudest fans in my case.

Had those fans in my old rig (in a CM 690II) and yeah they were DAMN loud, until I wired them up to my old Zalman fan controller which tamed the noise.
