Well, recieved my new 120mm case fans today in prep for the watercooling to begin on my new 2011 rig, heres my views:
Incase it hasn't been covered before, coolermaster sickleflow fans are not as quiet as they make themselves out to be on the box (27d.b +/- 10%) ive taken a reading with a d.b. meter and they come in at 40 d.b. on stock 12v config, the one thing is though that they really do shift air very very well and the lighting on the fans is perfect for a stealth config with a bit of illumination. I will try on a 7v molex to 3x3 pin adapter next week and take the new readings then, but i would be shocked if the fans wern't quiet on a 7v adapter.
One point to note about these fans also, the screwholes are EXTREMELY tight with the stock screws provided, and the screwheads are made of a very poor material, and tend to bite into the head itself, ruining the screw and possibly the screwhole itself also.
overall, for 4.20(GBP) per fan on novatech, im not too unhappy with the overall quality of the fan, but i just wish manufacturers would start giving realistic d.b. ratings on their products, as the only way to achieve their stated levels is be running on 7v adapters, and thus losing out on CFM.
