Well you should have all heard about the latest Intel cpu line up called 'Conroe' well if you havent I will give you a quick breif of it. Well AMD have won most gamers over the passed year with the AMD 64 Range but now Intel are fighting back with this overclocking beast.

Here are some benchies people have got with it:

What are the temps like on em anyways? I left intel a while back due to the prices and the pressys were so hot

they are based on the centrino core technology and use 65 nm process. Plus they have a common 4 mb cache between two processors and are not like the pressler and smithfield cores which are basically two P4s stuck together.

But just you wait , watch out for the AMD K8L with the 65 nm processor. AM2 is also coming in 90nm ( launching in May,2006 ) and 65nm ( launching in Q1,2007 ). I am waiting to see what AMD can do with their 65 nm technology before agreeing that conroe is most definitely the shiznit :D .

Just found another amazing conroe benchie :worship:

Well done Intel but I am still sticking with AMD :yumyum:

Woah, now that's impressive :yumyum: But like |3ourne said let's reserve judgement and see what AMD have to offer first. I can't wait to see some OC3D reviews of both platforms in the very near future :yumyum: :worship:

I can't help but wonder if SSE4 has anything to do with those amazing PI times. After all, when SSE support was enabled in SuperPI via means of a patch in the past, it knocked a few seconds or more off peoples PI times.

I was wondering the same thing about SSE4. I remember the patch and dropping times.

I just want to see some true oc's from consumer available cores. Hopefully they will do the same 4ghz or more without disabling a core.

Agreed. I take everything on XS with a pinch of salt. Occasionally they seem to distort the truth and lead people to buy things which don't perform as well as they have shown *thinks DFI 875P-T @ 6ghz*

The fact that Fugger didn't even say anything about it having a disabled core until later on in the thread and there is no sort of testing just a suicide shot is what gets me.

Yes exactly. Its like: "Here is a screenie of the conroe at 4ghz"

No mention of stability, no PI times, no other benchies, no idea of whether it was clocked using software in windows or BIOS...nadda!

Its just like a teaser to make ppl impulse buy the second it comes out.

I will probably end up waiting till I get back to the states in August before I get one. It may even be longer since I am going to be getting my phase unit made about the same time and haven't been quoted a final price on it yet.
