Confused and I've only just started

Please, just for the sake of being able to say "I told you so", try installing Windows in your new PC on a different hard drive.

If this was a memory error would the board not show a code? Would it have aloud me to even attempt to install windows or the one time get to the desktop.

This is so frustrating

No dude. The board does not test the memory itself, just that it's there.

I've had memory that worked absolutely perfectly in everything but if you ran a memtest on it there were errors.

I don't think you need to be too concerned over the SSD. A while back Crucial made an SSD that had what was referred to as "the 500 hour bug". Once you had used it for 500 hours it basically stopped working completely and caused all sorts of issues. I had a friend who ended up replacing his PSU, board, CPU, GPUs. Basically every single part other than the SSD as he never suspected a SSD could cause the problem.

I'm sorry you are having so many issues. It sucks when this happens and you can't find the cause. It's part of the reason why I bought an Alienware, then added what I wanted to add. I know if it acts up I can get an engineer out next day to diagnose the fault and repair/replace.

Hi all,

In the process of running mentest now on a single stick as I type it's 75% 0 errors this is on default settings 2133 once this completes I will add the other stick and run the test again so 16gb at 2133 then set the xmp to 3200 and test both sticks again.

I would leave the memory speed alone for now and try and get the rig stable and the OS on. It could well be that the ram is not properly compatible with that board dude.

Remember, it's still early days for Skylake so you may have just picked the wrong memory.

The memory is on asus QVL. The pc was working fine with the xmp set at 3200 18.18.18.38 at 1.35v

In till I messed with the asus ai suite, then from here its been all down hill. The matrix has it load indicator and even playing games after the ai3 done its thing the Gfx card was not under full load for the whole time I was gaming.

Then it crashed and well the problems have been ever since.

Have you tried setting the memory up manually

If you are having issues with 3200MHz its either the sideline volts to keep it all in play or the IMX on your CPU cant cope with memory that high.

So it either needs setting up OR your CPU cant do 3200MHz

No I have not as I am unsure what settings to change and value to change them.

First set up, Bios flashed, xmp enabled and all was running good. I played the same game for around 6 hours and never had an issue. The next morning is when I installed that program.

Since then I have just left default on 2133 without changing any settings.

Sorry to repeat myself Tom but it was working okay at 3200. 3200 was set before I had even installed an OS the first time. I had no issues that first day or the next morning.

Right now the bios is stock on every setting.

I just cannot understand why I cannot get an OS to install as every time on the reboot it fails.

Memtest has now been running on a single stick at 2133 for 2 hours and is about to go 3/4 passed and it shows 0 errors.

Unsure how long a test is for or how long it needs to run to remove the memory as being a problem?

Thanks

Once the memtest finishes, I will try to manually set the ram and try to load windows again and see outcome

Fails how on reboot? Why are you reinstalling? What OS are you installing and how?

Load Cd, Select country, install, add key then install does its thing then it goes through the list of 5/6 things and then says windows needs to restart to complete counts down from 10 then restarts, but always on the reboot it fails and a BSOD is shown

I was unable to get into safe mode on this board when it first crashed as when ever you press F8 it brings a boot menu up. So I thought okay my bad for messing about fresh install but so far have been unable to do this.

But the same SSD I am able to switch to this pc and install windows without a problem. Same with the hard drive.

Last night when I installed windows on this old pc and switched the ssd over to the new it did at one point reach the desktop. all be it with a lot of restarting and bsod too.

I am now 3 hours in 83% complete and 3/4 passed on memtest.

I even just cheeked the ssd ( which I'm using now) to see if it was up to date which it is and the crucial software says in good health.

Edit - its windows 10 home. I have tried via the disk drive and via a flash drive.

So after 5 hours memtest completed on the single stick of memory with no errors.

Turned off old pc and took out the ssd and plugged this in, enter bios load defaults, re start and done the secure erase, restart ssd able to be formated. Restart again enter bios. Shut down attach disk drive and turn back on

kmode_exception_not_handled
critical process died
0xc0000021a

This happened every time I tried to load windows from the disk drive. What is going on?

Back into bios i then changed the memory settings like advised Turn on "press any key to boot from disk" then get

driver overran stack buffer

Any ideas? :(

Right. First of all stop secure erasing your SSD, you'll eventually kill it.

According to M$ you have corrupt data on the drive. If the drive works in another PC and your memory has tested OK and you've replaced the board that only leaves the CPU dude.

See i thought this too due to the error messages always hinting that there was an OS still on the hard drive. And when looking up the error codes all the answer are about people who have a os installed, not trying to install one.

Your right sadly i have ticked off every item now of hardware bar one! Gonna have to try and send it back tomorrow.

Thanks. But i am was using a totally clean hard drive after the secure erase. Yet them error code some relate to having a on installed.

I have packed it all up now. Reinstalled windows on the ssd again on my old pc easy enough and will have to live with this for a few more days and hope they exchange the cpu for me.

After having sent the CPU off to be tested at the back end of last week. I received an email today saying a replacement was being sent out and it should be here tomorrow. :D

Lucky really, if this had happened further into the future id have been stuck with a dead CPU and nowhere to turn. Lesson truly learned do not play with programs that promise to do things i can do myself.
