Computer Shuts off on its own

So lately I've been having issues. Today was the third time my computer shut down on its own. Everything just immediately shuts off except my keyboard, mouse, and other USB connected devices still receive power and my mobo LED indicators stay on when it happens. I cannot simply press the power button after this happens. I have to disconnect the power cord or turn the power switch off and hold the power button until my mobo LEDs turn off and turn my PSU back on and press the power button and then I get a screen that says your computer had an unexpected shut down do you want to start up normally. It's a Kingwin MK Black Series 650w PSU that I bought used off of ebay about 6 to 8 months ago. I have not changed anything lately to my computer hardware wise. The problem happened every time I was in the middle of playing a game. the first 2 times I was playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and the most recent when I was Playing Gary's Mod. Neither are hardware demanding games and I run both at max settings but I feel like they arent the issue. First I thought my CPU was overheating and that was causing the shut downs because I have auto shut down if my CPU hits 65C. I mainly had my CPU OC to 3.9ghz and when I used EVGA OC Scanner and used CPU Burner to max out my cpu and used HWMonitor to watch my temps I maxed out at 60C. It is starting to get warm out so my room temp is a bit higher but when I changed my OC to 3.7 and checked the temps I was still at 60C with even a space heater going on in my room. I hope my PSU isn't dieing but it seems weird that my mobo LEDs stay on when my computer shuts down. The most recent change to my computer was my Razer Mamba 2012 mouse that I have had for over a week now and the shut downs have been happening in the last 3 days. I havent been able to confirm if the mouse's driver is having something to do with the shut downs. So hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject for me. I would really prefer not to buy another PSU for the chance of it not solving the problem and getting stuck with a PSU that I can't Refund because It was installed.

Try turning off that max CPU temp option and run HW monitor while gaming. If it keeps happening it's the PSU. HW temp monitors are completely different to your motherboards temp monitor. Also why not upgrade to Vishera?

^^^ +1. If it's not the temp protection this sounds suspiciously like a PSU problem.

On another note: Please, please, please split long walls of text up into paragraphs, makes it much easier to read (at least for me ;)) and not overlook important information. Thank you.

Yah sorry about the text, it was late and I was a bit flustered because It sucks knowing the work and money I put into this thing and something has to go wrong.

When I play games my CPU never goes above 60% usage so my temps don't even get as high as when I max the cores out with CPU burner.

I'm jut going to get a PSU because I probably need it anyways. This PSU is old and I need something that I can trust especially sense I'm overclocking my parts so I need clean power. I was thinking Corsair? 700w?

I know that feeling, it's an absolute pita indeed :cussing:
It's not that I get worked about walls of text (or bad grammar/spelling etc), but when I find myself reading the text about 5 times to make sure I understand it I allow myself to mention it for future reference ;)

Corsair 700 W will do fine. Considering the CPU pulls 125 W on stock and a stock 560 will pull 150 W I would be surprised if your system even used 400 W on full load on overclock.

Therefore, you could easily go lower than 700 W. I probably wouldn't go below 600 W though, just to provide enough room for maybe adding an additional graphics card at some point or using the PSU in a future build that uses more power (the PSU will most likely outlast your current build I'd say).

But 700 W is not complete overkill, especially if you ever might use the PSU in a system that uses more power than your current one. Something like the GS600 or the GS700 would probably not be a bad choice, but there are of course other options as well, both above and below the GS line's price range.

For a review of the GS700, have a look here. I haven't found any reviews of the GS600 that are as thorough but I think it's not unreasonable to assume it is similarly good.

That is why you should never buy a used PSU. You never know what's wrong with it. Get a known/reliable brand PSU and always buy new.
