now and again when i try to log into my windows account it freezes just locks up after i put the password in is there any quick fixes

thanks

No but something similarly strange happened to me the other day. I started up the comp and my user account was not listed in the user list, only "Administrator". I logged in and could see my files in c\docs and settings\username but my account was not listed in the control panel. After I restarted my account came back again, and haven't had trouble since. Why can't Windows just be reliable

Sounds like a corrupt profile, windows can sometimes fix it (which sounds what happened above). Try creating a new profile and use that for a while, see if it still freezes.

Absolutely.

It can be anything from it clearing up temp files or similar.

Key is that when it does this sorta thing u can hear or see the hard drive thrashing away.

If it starts doing it too often, it can be time to start tidying up, doing some housework - or just simply turn indexing off :p

its still happening but now programs are randomly crashing as well i have checked for viruses + spyware

tried creating another user account

tried defraging

i am stumped

Id start backing up NOW! with more and more things crashing it sounds like a fresh innstallation of window may be the order of the day. Try sticking in your windows disk and repairing windows

well all my important stuff is on a separate disk anyway and i will have to reformat on Wednesday anyway as i am re-caseing my pc so its not the end of the world .... yet :)
