Competition ideas thread

Ontop of other suggestions, I'd like to see some stuff that mods can get in on too.

Stuff that u need to be over a certain amount of posts to be in on (nothing stupidly high or anything).

And ofc ones where ur forum name needs to start with an "R". Perhaps ending with a "h". I dunno.

Ability ones are decent too. Thought the % oc one a while back was great.

(seperate points btw)

little and big ones would be good, mix it up a bit,

thats what she said..

I think little things like fan grills or similar are more practical.

It would be interesting to see how many of the competition entrants actually stay and use the forum etc.

Folding competitions are always a good way to get more people to fold.

Was thinking about that... Make a cad of a dozen or so 120mm / 5.25" grills and use them as prizes.

Getting people to fold is good, but how do you rate it? We've had this problem before with the 'folder of the month' topic I believe. PPD would put the people with the most money in top, increase in percentage would put the people who go from no folding to any folding on top.

What about a 3d printed image of the oc3d logo? It has no practical value at all but with some screw holes could fit into your rig. Maybe make a DDC mount of it? 3D printing shouldn't be too expensive when done in larger orders, think around $15/object.

well tjharlow a custom pc builder, modder etc on youtube tried doing a raffle for his subscribers to enter for a little fee to win some watercooling gear, but he later found out it was illegal to do so

Thats correct, TJ is actualy a good online mate of mine.

Ive been trying to find the funds to do another freebie rig for you lot, I only need 1 big company to throw some parts my way and I might do it as an xmas pressent to the forum.

In the mean time we will have a new website launch to cellabrate ;) ;) :)

Ah now, u could have folding as part of a qualifying stage of a competition.

Fold over so many points in a week - nothing tremendous. Doesn't just need to include present folders, just any1 who does a week over a certain level. Not a high level either.

Then u qualify for the next .....

Thats an idea, everyone has a GPU that can do 1000points in 7days.

that is quite a good idea!

You could get lots of people to fold for just one week but it would make a difference I suppose :D

if its a TTL pc, ill wait out too christmas :p, but on a serious note i have no idea how to fold but i guess if you wear to do a folding compo you would give people a guide?

How about a artistic competition?

Maybe a wallpaper design? I know Jim was also looking into having the OC3D logo refreshed so maybe that could be the one to go for? Kill two birds with one stone.

As for Jim and I keeping loads of goodies, in the current financial climate we are one of the few review sites atm lucky enough to get review samples nevermind samples to keep for our own. :(

Dont know if urself and Jim noticed, but generally, perhaps even a year or so b4 the banks closed all their collective doors, the likes of "reps" of companies stopped dropping off "tatt" like they used to many moons ago.

Even around christmas. Heck I consider myself well-off to have gotten a JVC pocket diary 2009 - wooooo.

Oh I got a Seaward mouse mat last week cos I'm cheeky enough to ask for things and knew one of the boss-types was muttering "they never even dropped off a mat for the new year".

i agree with this - i notice that this would knock me out the competition, but tbh i think its only fair, (while i daily view the homepage, i dont really contribute to the forums at all, and so i would say that regular forum users should either have a higher chance of winning, or their own competitions.

Agree on the post count, although that's quite an easy point to agree on for anyone who's regularly on the forums of course.

A graphics competition for a new logo sounds like a good idea to me. What about having a comp for graphics with a major prize and have all forum members (including 0 posters etc.) vote for the designs and give away a prize to one of the voters too?

I have an idea for a small competition!

why not give members of oc3d a small competition for them to design a big competition so that all u mods can hav a little time off

I wouldnt let them design the prize though!! :yumyum:
