Coil Scream - Gpu

Hi guys,

as you know yesterday I started folding but this morning I had to shutdown the pc as it woke me up at 5am with a horrible high pitched whining noise..

Just started it again and I have identified it as coming from the GTX560.

I have put it back to stock voltage and stock clocks and now the whine has gone...

Is this a sign of a dogy power supply or a dodgy card ???

Should I send it back to the supplier ?

Oh and can somebody take a look at my sig,,, I think I got it set up wrong... Followed the instructions over at extreme overclocking...

Do you know how many VRMs your card has got. If its just 4 I'd be careful how high you push the core voltage.

As for the sig. Once you have completed a work unit and a few hours has passed it should show up without a problem.

Coil whine is usually nothing to worry about. A few of my GPUs/motherboards have done it at stock clocks under load, and each of those parts are still functional sometimes years later. If it annoys you, though, definitely turn off the overclock.

It's not going to be news to anyone on here that coil whine would annoy the hell out of me
