Codec Help

Hi Ayd here

you'll have to bear with me on this one as it's new to me (should have asked in the Office today but forgot)

I'm using a programme by cucusoft for converting divx to pal dvd, now most convert easily as the cucusoft software is easy enough for an idiot like myself to use, but on the odd conversion I get this :-

Could not open media file, You may need to install some codec to open your vieo file.

It kindly directs me to a link on cucusofts site where I duly download what they call the recommended codec downloads but this does not solve my problem.

Any ideas on what I should be looking for as I'm stummped.

you need the coded that the file uses (both audio and video). There is a program called gspot (no kidding!) that will open the file and tell you what codecs it is using. then just google the codecs and download, install.

What format videos are you trying to open?

you can download large batches of codecs such as the Klite Codec Pack but im not sure how much that would help.

personally i wouldnt use codec packs as the amount of crap they put on your pc is pretty surpising.

LMAO I just did something really dumb...without thinking I typed 'gspot' into Google......give you one guess what the first load of pages were
