COD troubles

hey just insatlled MW2 on my pc it installed fine but when i get into the game it freezes at the infinity ward logo and then doesent respond,it does this if i use the shortcuts or even go via steam at the same point evrytime it freezes,ive re0installed it 3times now multiplayer doesent work ither,any thoughts

Graphics drivers? Applications running in the back? Firewall?

turn off the steam overlay for a while

not really recommended, but i've heard of some people having to exclude the steam folder from their AV software too

ok guys ile try these,ile take of the OC to the GPU aswell

EDIT-still not working guys it keeps freezing/not responding at the infinityward logo any other ideas

Ah yes..... Plug in a microphone, if this is the same problem as I had with COD4 this is the answer.

I Dont have a microphone only a webcam (that has a mic on it tho),so i guess it will use that,but its plugged in 24/7

Enable Stereo MIX, Vista RealTek

-Start, control panel

-Hardware and Sound

-Sound

-Recording Tab

-Right Click in window, chose "Show Disabled Devices"

-"Setero MIX"appeared, Right Click and choose enable

-OK

or

1. Change your default audio device to headphones

2. Start the game.

or

Get a mic plugged into the mic jack, worked for me.

You got the sound device down bottom right? You can change it there or in control panel.

Start > control panel > sounds and audio devices > speakers settings (bottom of form) - advanced. > change to headphones.

when into soundmax blackhawk there is no option to change to headphones,nither in control panal/sounds

Hmm weird, have you tried to load COD after doing the stereo mix?

Only thing I can suggest is grabbing a mic from someone.

just re-installed my GFX drivers still no joy even setting my res to 1024*760 as recommened still doesent work,nothing is OC'd i also validated the cache in steam but to no avail,only think i havent done is updated my sound (soundmax) ime honestly stumped

ok well i found a forum were some one said 'leave it on the infinityward logo' so i did for about 3min then BOOM it worked weard ey,only issue i have now is the gameplay is very choppy and skippy

EDIT-multiplayer does not work ither just freezes on the homescreen,rollon the patches
