Hi guys :) just upgraded my main pc (7870 and a 690 2 black and white edition) and the fans seem horribly loud :( im sure its not the gpu or anything else. do the fans run at 7 or 12v stock as when i wired it all up they came with molex to 3 pin adapters which makes me thing its 7v in which case i'll have to replace all the fans :(. does anyone else have this problem with the case? or is it just me being a quiet freak :P

The case includet fans are often not the quietest, replace them if they are disturbing or slow them down.

I used to have a CM690 II ADV and the stock fans were pretty loud, so much so I replaced them with noctuas.

Would you think slowing them down to 7v would be ok or will they still be loud? can't really afford the money to replace them at the moment :(

I used reducers until I replaced the fans, they do make the fans quiet but they also reduce the air flow, making your rig a bit hotter.

Not majorly hotter though, i'd rather have a slightly hotter rig than a louder one anyway, plus it's winter so the extra heat is a bonus :D

Right ill order a reducer off amazon when i get the money. dont mind it a bit hotter really, gpu idles at 25 degrees anyway :P what fans would you reccomend? im looking at the corsair sp 120 for the drive cage then af 120's for the rest?

I used Noctua NF12s because they have have the best noise to performance ratio but the Corsair ones are pretty good, Bitfenix specters are decent case fans as well though.

I use those fan speed reducers, they work a treat. If you have issues, you can always get some tweezers or pliers out a re-jig the molex cables to 12v or 5v.

I have the same case, and run all my fans at 5V and I find that fine for me - but I do have considerable more fans

Ummm, no. I tried them on a fan controller - but my fan controller added noise to Coolermaster fans.

Do your fans click (put your ear up to them) while running at 12v? If so, that can be amplified whilst running at lower speeds - even more so on fan controllers

I have the same case, and I wouldn't bother using any fan speed reducers, it's not worth it. Just get new fans if you're concerned about noise, the stock ones move almost nothing at 12v anyway.

True - but I'd be using those fan speed reducers regardless of which fans I got and they always come in useful as you should never run fans at 12v anyway cause they'll always be too loud.

If you can't afford to restock all fans yet, get the cable first.

If you can, get the cable anyway and a new set of fans

Makes sense I guess, fan speed reducers are always handy :)

Just picked up a couple of 7v reducers from maplin on my way back from college. its alot quieter now :D not silent like my zlman was but getting there. on a side not im looking at the bit fenix spectre or spectre pro's. whats the difference between them?

Spectre pros shift more aid but are louder.

I'd just go with the standard spectre tbh. I have a 140mm in the front of my cm 690. Shifts a fair amount of air even at 5V and completely silent.
