cloning to bigger HDD

Hey guys. im about to upgrade from a 1TB HDD to a 2TB HDD. i have all programs and OS on an SSD, so that side of things shouldnt be problem.
I also have my 1tb HDD backed up onto another 1TB HDD (acronis) as well

Am i ok just to use acronis and clone tool to clone the 1TB HDD to the 2TB HDD?
i havent got any partitions on my current 1TB drive. Am i also right in thinking that the clone wont create any partitions on the 2TB? so everything looks the same as it was before, just it's all on a 2TB HDD now?

i thought it is possible to CLONE first 1tb-to-1tb on a 2tb drive, and then simply resize the volume of the cloned drive to its max capacity.
