Classified 980 Ti ?

I have a chance to get an EVGA 980 Ti Classified as my Fury X went the way of the dodo.

Thoughts ?

Well I'd get it and also a partial refund as the Classified costs £590 and I paid £650 for the Fury X :)

Then yes?

This is getting card with at least equal performance and you get £60 vs not having a video card for for an unspecified amount of time.

f it, go gsync, might as well go the whole hog, i mean whats one without the other

Well if I sold this monitor I'd get like £350 and I have £50 left over from the partial refund and I won't be able to get a G-Sync monitor that is 1440P for £400.

I'll just keep the monitor as it's 1440P and 144Hz with some nice "Gaming" features and use Nvidia's adaptive v-sync option in the driver, Not as good as adaptive sync tech but it's decent.

I'd stick where I was.

I went from Nvidia with a G-sync monitor to AMD and I sort of regret it as I liked G-Sync when it was working.

Thing is you know what's going to happen. You'll get the 980ti then want a G-sync monitor. I would waste my money on something else tbh. Maybe get a Fury then buy another for Crossfire. Should see you good for a few years.

Having a G-Sync monitor wouldn't (and didn't) stop me buying AMD cards. It would still be one of the best gaming monitors available even it didn't have adaptive-sync of any kind. 144hz 1440p was an unthinkable achievement not that long ago. And Free-sync is allegedly free, so it's not even like you made an investment.

Nobody two years ago was saying... well I better not buy a graphics card because my monitor doesn't have G-Sync or Free-Sync.

...and Classified is bawss no db8 m8, i r8 8/8.

No but people are totally basing their decisions now on one or the other.

Thankfully I got my monitor 'cheap' in a sale, so it didn't work out much more than a 4k panel specced the same without G-Sync.

As a 980ti classified owner.... I say go for it! It's a animal stock but obviously plenty of OC headroom.

From what I've seen every game I've played so far sits at around 120-140 fps ultra on the Swift.

Plus it looks the sex!

I'm going to be starting my custom loop in the up n coming months so then I will have stab at OC the monster myself.

Well the BenQ XL2730Z is exactly the same as the Swift in the quality department and uses a slightly newer version of the same panel although I found the colours pop a bit more with the BenQ, I just wish Nvidia would get off their high horse and support Freesync, It's not like they don't already in the gaming laptops that use G-Sync when infact there is no G-Sync chip in there.

Im using a samsung 4k screen and i picked it up for less than 300 quid and it looks amazing maybe you could find a bargin like that i got it from OCUK was B grade but looks and performs perfect, looks new tbh ...

maybe you could do something like that with your freesync problem (well not a problem but you do get me.)

Nah I'll stick with this monitor, I can still use it as a 1440P 14Hz monitor with a butt ton of features minus the Freesync which you never know Nvidia may support down the line as it's not really an AMD tech it's a standard of the actual display port :)

Thats cool so far im not missing 144Hz, right now anyway. I did notice some things where maybe not as smooth as im used too however they are so much more enhanced quality wise my eye-gasms are making up for it.

Would like to hear how the classified performs when OC'ed as i have its little little little brother sitting in my case lol :)

And same for the screen as i know you push things hard :).

Well the screen is fantastic as I've been using it for a month with the now KIA Fury X so quality wise in that department it won't be much different albeit the frames will be substantially higher according to the benchmarks.

I'll post screenies of the most stable clocks I can get when it arrives in the morning :)

Adaptive sync is overrated unless you're running something like 4k 60hz with a -meh- gpu. 144hz

Getting Freesync monitor is great because you get a high end monitor with loads of features WITHOUT the Green Team Tax.
