Classified 980 Ti ?

Adaptive sync is overrated unless you're running something like 4k 60hz with a -meh- gpu. 144hz

Getting Freesync monitor is great because you get a high end monitor with loads of features WITHOUT the Green Team Tax.

Well the BenQ I have is literally the same as the ROG Swift minus the problems I had and a slightly newer version of the same panel but that colours pop a bit more.

I reckon Nvidia will eventually support Freesync though considering even Intel are going to support it.

Bought, It's already shipped and will be here before 10am tomorrow morning :)

Do you have reference or classys bud ?

All classys. Cheery Cherry picked classys might I add ;)

Also it would seem the 980ti classys arent as highly binned as previous ones. I got a few that were only able to do around 1550. Still pretty decent. Then again, I did get them early.

Could easily live without the G-Sync on my swift.

As NBD say's if you have freesync why didn't you get either 2 fury's or even 390x's and crossfire them? And don't worry about getting stuff that breaks as my new M/B just folded but they are sort of insinuating it was my fault and all i did was remove two cards and put two in

What happened to your mobo?

1. Jealous A.F. What is it you do?? ;)
2. Agree on G Sync I'm most likely looking at a freesync monitor for my next update but run Nvidia GPUs.

Ideally by then there'll be units compatible with both technologies but... yeah probably not.

I'm wanting a 21:9 3440*1440 and the Gsync versions seems to be limited to 60hz so probably not a lot of point considering the extra dollars. Freesync won't work obviously but it seems to be the more common tech being rolled out.

Plus I think most people swap GPU's way more often than monitors so proprietary solutions are not ideal.

Anything over 1550 is rare, Even a few youtubers with the cherry picked 980 Ti Kingpin cards have had trouble getting over 1520 so count yourself VERY lucky :)

I would have went with 2 Fury for Xfire:p

Also do you ever buy anything that doesn't break?:p

Cheeky ^_^

I don't like multi GPU solutions and as I had the chance to get one of the best GPU's on the market I wasn't going to let that slip me by plus I can still use the monitor as a 1440P 144Hz panel, Freesync was pretty much free in terms of extra cost to the panel so it's no loss really as I can't tell the difference between using Nvidia's adaptive v-sync option and Freesync/G-Sync unless it goes down to around 40-50 FPS which is easy to tune a game for :)

Ok that's fair enough :)

hmm, maybe so then, as most (bar 2 or 3) of the classys I bought were in the 1550+ range, though I do remember 1 that had terrible coil whine and barely went past 1350 (replaced pretty quickly :D ). Took me quite a long time till I finally managed to get a complete set of 3, some were good OC that just didnt play well in tri sli configs.

Still guess you cant really call several retry luck :D

Word of warning though, the cooler isnt great. Not terrible, but just not great either. I like the lightning much better on Air. If the case is well ventilated, the cooler will take care of the rest no worries. Would have been nice if MSI had a binning process in place for their lighting cards... Was quite disappointing that mine was only able to reach 1487 even though the thing was running so cool...

Not really surprised that the KingPin cards arent going much higher, as there is only so much you can do. Also were they using the stock cooler and bios? Mine were under water from the get go then just sold off, cause EVGA doesnt mind people removing the cooler, unlike some that put stickers on screws (M*I?)

Sorry Jimma just noticed your question and to answer it all i did was take out my 980's and put my 980ti's in and the damn thing wouldn't boot and I noticed that the LED's that give you boot codes no longer works and I can't get it to boot with cards in or using onboard, tried everything i can think of but no go, but the thing that S**TS me the most is when I contacted MSi they insinuated it was something I did

No worries :)

That's bad about the motherboard. Not even posting sucks. You've no doubt tried this already. Is power getting to the board at all? It's not the PSU? if there's no signs of life anywhere you could connect a fan by molex and jump the 24pin like when you test for leaks if you don't have a psu tester. Or try hooking up the PSU to another PC - it can at least rule that out. I had a PSU fail but the symptoms all showed up elsewhere. Instability, Drive failures etc.

I don't see how changing your cards can blow the motherboard unless the slot is actually damaged maybe or if it was powered up when you did it.

Haven't bumped any ram sticks or other components that may have come loose? My RAM latches sit pretty close to the back of my cards so can unlatch if I'm not careful moving things around so could be worth a look. Even then you'd have to be extremely unlucky. Does your mobo have an extra SATA power connector somewhere? Once again tho that's generally more for overclocking and stability iirc not to actually get the board to work.

That's the worst timing too. Just when you want to try out your new cards as well. Maybe Dice's luck is contagious?

Good luck with MSI.

Edit - Keen to see those 980Ti's with the MSI bridge connected. Should look the goods when you get your new board.

If he has my luck then he'll have a bad bout of a few monitors getting flickering, Dead pixels etc...1 CPU AIO breaking, 1 GPU AIO breaking and 1 non RGB keyboard breaking XD

I really hope it is just you taking one for all of us so that the hardware gods are appeased.

Seriously though - your luck must be due to change for the better! Buy yourself a lotto ticket or something :)

So far with this build I have had a warped rear door on my case which was replaced, had to replace the power button section of the case, had to replace a case, two motherboards fold, an SSD fold and a DOA Oki MC362w and missing screws from my H105 and my monitor went missing for ages in the post does that qualify as bad luck :p

Ouch. Apart from the printer, door, case and screws - it sounds like maybe your power supply is the gremlin. It could just be coincidence but might be worth checking it out if you have any more failures?

Not sure but it might be although it's an AX1200i on a $700 sine wave UPS it should be sweet

Well the 980 Ti Classified arrived about 2 hours ago, Just tried Arkham Knight with everything maxed at 1440P I'm getting a solid 90FPS as there seems to be a cap in place but I'm very impressed.

Clock auto boosts up to 1400MHZ without touching anything, Temp at load doesn't exceed 66'c with a 1:1 fan curve which surprisingly is still quiet and doesn't go over 76'c on the auto profile.

I'll post some pics once I've finished playing :D

Didn't go Gsync then?

Didn't go Gsync then?

Don't have the funds spare at the moment due to crimbo ^_^

For me there's not much point anyway as this monitor is 144Hz 1440P and G-Sync adds about as much as Freesync, Yes it's nice but I personally don't really notice it once I go over 60FPS.

Update

Managed to get 1500/2000 stable on the classy with a max of 1.20v so it looks to be a good one.

Passed both Unigines, Firestrike, Extreme, 11, Vantage, Arkham Knight bench and 20 minutes of PCARS :)

Nice!

Thinking about this whole Freesync/GSync issue - I think we've got it backwards maybe. Nvidia obviously don't want to give it away for free. AMD are going the better route imho in using an open standard.

If the technologies are not that dissimilar, I wonder why the top end monitors don't just cater for both. That is - have a Gsync module plus be natively freesync/adaptivesync compliant.

Yeah would cost extra but for flexibility it would be a winner. Especially for premium monitors that tend to outlast most peoples GPU setups.
