Sounds like they are improving a lot of what people didn't like in V. Should be a good game! I just personally not a fan of the new graphics. To cartoonish for me.

This causes some serious excitement, I'm sad, been a fan of the Civ series since the very first game!

I am very excited by this. All I hope is that it is as good as Civ V after the expansions.

Firaxis has an awful problem with the game not being as good as it's predecessor, at least until expansions are released.

Yeah there last two games would show that would be true. Tbh I regret buying Civ:BE. One of the worst game purchases I ever made in recent memory, it's terrible imo. Basically an alternate base Civ V game that's just skinned differently and somehow far more boring!

If they could expand upon how Civ V is now, that would be a great baseline to expand off of and should make the franchise go back to it's glory days. I'm pretty darn excited for the new Game Engine they are using too, interested in those details.

Edit: Just in case anyone is curious. If you preorder the game through steam, you can also get the Steam Controller for 40% off.

The way I see it Beyond earth would have been a brilliant expansion for civ V, but it isn't great as a standalone title.

I got enough good playtime out of it, but it was nowhere close to Civ V.

I look forward to seeing how this new engine runs. hopefully the time between turns will decrease, as Civ V could chug if you made a big enough game.

This time I hope we can flatten mountains over time into something more useful.

That is actually a really good idea. And if not, something like railway tunnels to travel through them.
Although there are mods for Civ V that you can change the terrain on the fly, but not everyone uses mods...

railway tunnels is a great idea to bypass mountains or perhaps bridge small seas Eurotunnel style.

Ya I would agree as well with the Eurotunnel! Or when dynamite is researched the ability to remove the mountain entirely too. And can then be turned into a mine/miltiary building.

I like the idea of the mixed military unit giving the opportunity to add defence to a particular units weakness, still 1 unit per tile though I don't mind that
