Choice of Sleeving Colour

Hi everyone

I've pretty much decided that for my new build I want to get a NZXT Phantom 630 in Gunmetal. I also want to get some nice MDPC sleeving for my cables, the components are red and black so the logical thing to do would be to get red and black sleeving.

However the case is kind of grey, so would it be best to get grey and red sleeving?

Here is a picture of the case:

This is my first time sleeving so I'd like to see what the experienced think :)

Personally, I like MDPC's off-black and slightly lighter grey sleeving, it looks lush when done properly.

That will go better with his red/dark red than black in my opinion. It will look far slicker.

Tip: Get the molex tool when you make your order, that thing is worth it's weight in gold compared to other pin removers.

Lol sorry I did look but on this site you had the black version for review.

Here is a picture from this site for those who want to see it, just imagine it in grey though :) :

Thanks for the reply. I did have a look at some of the pin removers, the MDPC one is very expensive though. I'll see if I can cut something down elsewhere and get that one. Are the other ones really bad though? That typical kit that is on sale everywhere is definitely going to be flimsy, but theres other ones such as this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shakmods-...Case_Mods_Stickers_Decals&hash=item2a2ccc85a4

What do you think of that one?

Oh and BTW, do you think 40m of sleeve is going to be enough?

100% don't bother wasting your money on any other pin remover, get his tool and it'l last a lifetime if used properly. It's a pleasure to use and has never done me wrong. I'd also think about picking up the two brass molex round pin remover thingies.

They do seem expensive, but for a tool that you're going to depend on it can make all the difference. The one you linked looks cheap and in all honesty, too fat to get around the sides of the pins properly without damaging them.

To measure out what I needed sleeving-wise, I looked at the psu 'kits' that he does, and added a bit extra for getting to know the sleeving. It's a shame the kits were only black/white when I bought them.

Make sure you scan your drawing as well ;)

I've looked at the cable lengths for my PSU and it came to 38m, so I'll have 2 metres to spare which is good. Unfortunately my PSU isn't modular, its the regular type so I may have to make the hole a bit bigger.

Drawing? What do you mean lol

I assume that's individual sleeved?

If/when you make the hole bigger, do make sure you remember to do it AWAY from the psu's internals... It wouldn't be the first time someone killed a psu by filling it with metal filings. Also remember to leave enough room to properly rubber gromet the thing so it doesn't cut the sleeving and cables.

You'll see when your sleeving arrives :)

Yup thats individually sleeved. I dont know how I would make the hole bigger though, I havent got any metalworking tools. There is a bit of extra space there already which may be enough. Here is a pic:

Nevermind the dust ;)

you *might* get away with that.. (although I doubt it) I'd be prepared to file/dremel it a bit bigger if necessary.

You'd have to take the PSU apart so it's not for the faint of heart!

Lol I dont think theres anything in the whole house which I havent taken apart

Which could potentially kill your entire PC + you (if you really screwed up) ? ;)

Just giving fair weather warnings, do keep us upto date on how you get on (+ your drawing scan/photo ;))
