Chilly1 or Baker Prometia in the US

I live in the US and I would love to get my hands on either a Chilly1 or Baker Extreme unit. I assume you guys make them, so the chance of finding one here is slim to none. Can a mod or someone who knows PM me with a way to get one here?

Also, I noticed Baker's unit comes with his hold-down / enclosure system which is great. I've got 2 of his custom units and they are by far the best I've used. Does the Chilly unit come with his enclosure / hold down system also?

Hi there VONuclear (interesting name??) I am the owner of EP. First things first if you want a custom unit then you will need to run a voltage converter as these are Euro spec 240v units. Secondly yes the Chilly1's do come with enclosure, which is as good as the Baker one. They are both a lot better than the stock Mach II enclosure. I am prepared to ship via insured Fedex which takes 2 days and I have a chilly1 in stock but like I said, if you want it you have to make sure you are running a voltage converter first of all.

LOL, my username is unique. VO is short for my website, Virtual-Octane.net...and Nuclear is my name that alot of people know me by. I squash them together, as Nuclear is almost always taken.

I wasn't even thinking of having to use a power converter, that would pose a problem I guess. I'm not sure of where to buy one.

Let me do some looking and I'll PM you about the Chilly1 unit. I'm doing a head to head cooling comparo between "pre-made" single stages and a custom single stages, as I often get asked those questions. I've gotten a LS and GT, I was just hoping to jump on a Chilly1 or Baker Extreme to show the extreme end of off the shelf units.

Thanks

The difference between, custom and pre-made? But if you compare the Chilly1 to the one you have it will be Custom-tocustom single stage comparison as Phil has them modified, they aren't made that way.

Umm, I see where you are coming from, but maybe your definition of custom and mine are different. You can buy a Chilly1 unit from a store, all be it customized with parts...it's still pretty much a regassed GT. This is why I consider it a pre-made unit.

My custom Baker cooler is nothing you could find in a store, and finding someone to build it would be much harder. My Cooler has a 10K BTU rotary compressor, which is not something you'll ever find in a off the shelf unit. Also, my unit loads around -62C, which is much colder than a pre-made can do.

who built that dood

Baker himself built that unit. It's a true gem, one of the most powerful single stage systems known about. It's very powerful and nothing like a LS or GT. It has a special edition baker block, so recovery time is awesome.

I'm sad to say it's for sale though :(

I get what you mean now. That is one truely awesome looking piece of kit. How much you selling it for?

Umm, I'm not sure if the forum permits this...so a mod may feel free to edit my post.

I'm asking $650 USD for the unit, only because its a custom and provides excellent temps. A stock LS or GT here in the states will run you about $830-$1000...and offer load temps in the -40s. This cooler can provide true load temps in the -60C range, so I feel my price is fair.

The only reason I am selling it is because I am getting out of the full time benching scene for a bit. My job position has changed, and with that comes more travel time. I would hate to have this unit just sitting around, so I figured I would sell it to someone who could get good use from it.

That is a nice little unit, that I would love to have to be honest, but I have no cash at the moment. How much did it cost to have made exactly? Maybe I'll get one from Chilly or Baker when I have some cash.

Your post is not really against rules, I'd just post it into the Classifieds section anyway, see what offers you get.
