Hi, just getting the final nod really before i order the parts (this is a process thats taken me weeks cause im going back and forth about what to do and what to get. So if someone could check it over for me i would be very thankful;

Case - 600T (white)

CPU - i5 2500k

mobo - P8Z68-V

RAM - 8GB (2x4gb) vengence 1600 LP (blue)

cooler - NH-D14

GPU - MSI twin frozr III GTX 570

PSU - TX850

HDD - samsung F3 1TB

optical - Sony DVDr/rw 24......

Main concern is the PSU; is it suitable (i know people will recommend the AX850 and honestly i do want it, but trying to save a little money)? and the case; Cant button down what i really want (but thats down to my own problems)

The rig is for Gaming, will be OC'd even if only a bit.

The TX850 is more than plenty for that rig. I run an i7 930 and two GTX470's off of one. You could add another 570 to that system and still have power to spare.

looks fine but unless you plan on sli later instead of the TX which iirc isnt modular go with the HX750 as its semi modular (has 24 and 8pins attached)

i was thinking for a bit further down the line i could go sliif i wanted to but for now it wont be happening. the tx was i the modular section on scan.

Ok i looked at the 850HX, whats the differnce between that and the AX?

tx non modular hx semi modular ax fully modular

that explains it easier.

Ok i keep flip flopping on the case, but i saw someone's build who resprayed the RV03 stripes and thats one of the things that turned me off that case but to be able to change them that easy has maybe changed my mind. BUT i still dont get how all the wires connect to the plugs. Does anybody know where i can find pictures of an RV03 rig with the wires for devices attached?

well bro most plugs only go one way like the fans and such go on a molex sata to sata theres only one way they fit. Now for the front panel connections refer to the mobos book it'll tell ya where they go on the mobo and each are labeled on the plug so you know which is which

Do you mean the connections from the mobo and graphics cards on top of the case? If so, heres a LINK of the top with cables connected..

If it's inside the rig your thinking, S_I_N explained it perfectly

Yeah perhaps my words could have been better phrased. But yes i meant the wires as in the monitor wires and such that normally connect to the back (or in this case the top) everytime i found pictures it was just of the internals and i never see how things actually hook up. But Redgy's pic is exactly what i wanted to see. I couldnt quite get my head round it. So is there alot of space under the top cover?

I have a RV02, and theres space enough for a VGI to DVI connector from the GPU, so im guessing theres a lot of space on the RV03 as well

I really like the solution with cables on top, a lot less visible cable mess from your computer

OK ordered the majority of the parts off scan... has anyone had experience buying off novatech? they are one of only a couple of places that have the gpu and cooler i want (other being overclockers.co.uk) but they beat them in price.

u checked ARIA.co.uk ?

normally cheapest for stuffs.. and good company

both items are available so u only pay one postage cost

Personally, I'd scrap any or all considerations of sli and 570 cards, and make the first item on your list a 580. There's enough cash being spent on other items to get it.

Then get the other items as required in their priorities.

UPDATE

Well ive built it.. took a few hours, but thats to be expected for a newbie. My only query is this;

While in the bios, the cpu temp is 41-42 degrees (c). Is this normal, or have i done something wrong? my concerns are that i didnt add enough thermal paste.

Install Windows and check the temps there, then you can see if the temps are normal, BIOS temps doesn't tell much, at least not imo..

And adding too little thermal paste is very unlikely, how much did you add? A small 4-5mm blob in the middle?

yeah it was like a little blob and (i might get moaned at for this) i did the smear technique to cover the chip in a smooth flat grey. (i actually thought i put too little on looking at it but i refrained putting more on)

ok i will try to install windows

Sounds good, check idle temps and Prime95 temps in Windows. If the temps are too high, just re-seat it with a 4-5mm blob in the middle, and put the heatsink on to let it do the spreading..

Just put it down on the CPU then wiggle it a little, then you screw one or two rounds on each screw until they are both completely screwed in, so the cooler gets the same pressure on each side. This should spread the thermal paste pretty much perfectly.

I did this recently, on a friends 2500k and D14 on a Asus P8P67 board.. Worked out perfectly for him, it should for you as well
