Check through

Well all set up... .and um, dont mean to sound stupid.. but how do you check the temps in windows?

NVM, i did a search and got something called cpuid. Shows that my cores are package 36, 36, 36. Some of the cores are 31 and 32. why does this happen?

anyway, is 36 suitable?

OK new news... .for some reason windows 7 is acting strangly. it is refusing to open programs, and when i try to open the control pnel and select an option, it freezes and no longer lets me pick anything from thata folder. doesnt even let me close it. any ideas?

After building the PC have you stressed tested it to make sure all components function. Usually when building a PC I will stress test it for 24 hours after at stock speeeds to make sure everything is functioning and stable. Also have you installed all the latest drivers for your mobo/chipset, the ones included within the windows install are usually not the best ones and you would be better getting all drivers direct from the manufacturer.

Prime95 is a good tool to run that will stress test your new PC, it will also give you an indicator as to the max temps you will get if you plan to overclock

i havent stress tested it yet. everything appears to be okay tho.. i think i have got all the drivers. i installed the ASUS ones off the disk.

This is the second time ive reinstalled windows.. cause during the process of getting the programs i usually have on herethats whenit stops. It wont allow Steam to be installed, but the functionality of the machin is still fine despite that. its normally when i install windows live that things go to shit.

OK this is seriously stupid... im beginning to think i should have gone with a store built one as too much fricking stuff is confusing me. My hard drive of 1TB only shows a harddrive of 29GB when i click on my computer... need help badly. Think i now nknow its not building it, its setting it up which is the bloody pain.

edit - jesus, sorted that out...

Bless the guys at sevenforum; they are helping me out tryinto work the kinks out. looks like unlike my vista rig, 7 doesnt like panda and MSE playing together. so if all is sorted out, ill put pics up soon
