Cheap Prices

Sorry if what I say is stupid or this is in the wrong section

I was wondering firstly if you could buy hardware directly from a manufacture.... and how you would go about it

I understand that you may have to buy a bulk of hardware.... (like 8 of the same G-cards )

secondly.. can buy imperfect hardware from the manufacture that has small defects like a slightly bent back grill

something that effects appearance but not the function of the card but prevents the manufacture from being able to sell.

I know you can do this with other things.... such as furniture.

Any help you can give will be appreciated

Thanks

No you can't.

Firstly if you bought up to 8 cards from the middle man (the distro, you can not deal directly with any manu) you will save about £5 a card. There are no margins unless you buy in bulk.

Secondly they will not sell imperfect electronics. It is against the law.

LOL's to get them any cheaper youd need to buy them by the 100! Theres not a lot of mark up on hardware tbh, deffo not the ammount you are thinking anyways

Thankx for your replies anyways

Its just where I live hardware costs about 30-40% then in America

but I've found a good online hardware store that isn't to bad in terms of % difference compared to American prices.

Are you paying 20% VAT? 'cos here in the UK we will be soon. Mind you the prices will have to drop to reflect it or like last year people will simply stop buying. When ram prices hiked nobody I knew bothered to upgrade.

We have GST in Australia which adds 10% to the price but nothing like the 30% difference and getting it shipped here from America is massively expensive so you don't make a saving from buying from an american online store...

For example the 6870 in America is about the $240 mark in Australia its about $330 even though the $AUS = $USA..

however I did see a HIS one for $289 ( ~ 300$ with P & A)
