Car photos/discussion thread

I was confused because I thought you were talking about buying the actual license plate and not the car, but you mentioned the picking it up... idk confused me^_^

Ahh. Over here a 62 plate would be a car made in 2012 after August. A 12 plate is before August.
I have no idea how plates work in the US at all tbh! Let me know :)

Current one still causing you problems?

Nah got it all fixed up, but I wanted something with some more oomph, and all those other features I listed a while back like cruise control p, automatic lights, etc.

This has 204 bhp compared to the 148 in the 318i. Also wanted to give the coupe a go :)

We don't use anything like that. We just go by year model. So a 2012 BMW made after August would just be classified as a 2012 BMW xxx model. A "plate" to us is the license plate:p

Yeah the plate still refers to the licence plate but the year and location it was first registered are encoded, see example

I'd like to say the US way is easier and more simple:p

It's just different because our 'registration' plates are for the vehicle rather than the owner. Hence they have always displayed the vehicles age, a code to denote where it was originally registered and a random element. In the UK we purchase tax for the registration plate and it was traditionally displayed in the windshield although that has now been abandoned in favor of a giant database that we've actually used for years.

Your 'license' plates in the US are for the owner effectively? Displaying where and when they have registered the vehicle. It's just a slightly different way of doing the same things and allowing the relevant people to identify the vehicle and see that it's taxed etc. Not many things are done county by county in the UK like they would be with different states so it's implemented in a different way. Our country is only small.

Plus we can be snobby and see exactly how old everyone else's car is. You can have personal registration plates with your own numbers and letters but they can't be put on a vehicle that is older than the plate.

Haha I know right.

Ya the plates for us is just an identifer that I own that car. So if a police man typed in my plate I would show up on screen and he could see my crime history etc. But since the plate itself can have a certain state labled on it they can look me up anywhere in the country so long as they get the state right, everyone is held in the Federal DMV database which allows them to do this. Everyone has unique plates so it's really just a matter of who owns that plate. But yeah essentially the same thing!

Very beige!
Also are they blinds? Lol

Picking up the new ride in 30 mins. Expect some pics later!

I used to dislike 2dr cars, but I think the BMW coupes look better, took a chance and so far don't regret it!
