Getting really tempted to switch cars. It seems like you get hardly anything for your money when it comes to BMW - kinda regret getting one.
expand, what do you think you're missing out on?
Slow, crap MPG, no cruise control, no bluetooth media, no auto headlights, very basic console (comparing to an Audi for example), interior is very plane and plastic.
I could get a Golf GTI with all of those features and over 200BHP for less than what I paid.
stupid me kissed a pillar...
My brother opened the back door (left) of my car into a wall, chipping the edge in the process.
I'm thinking about trying a touch up pen as the damage is quite minimal. I don't know if anyone here has any experience with them?
If you go to the dealer you can pick up a pen with the same code. I had to do the same with my car and i cant tell the difference
Paint will never ever never ever ever ever match!
Go to a bodyshop pay the £50 and have it done properly, unless you're 100% not bothered and just want it covered up

thought yours was an SE shouldnt it have cruise control and a nav unit with bluetooth
unless you get an msport all bmw's are slow, they weigh 900 million ton! It is annoying!
That bumper scuff would cost about £200 from my local body shop.
It is an SE yeah. Has sat nav, also has Bluetooth but not for media, don't think that became available till the 2011 models firmware.
I've been looking for an M Sport but many seem to have little upgrade from mine, or out of my price range!
Whats the ball park figure? Im sure i could find you something awesome for your money, not to mention Barnsley finds some good deals as well!
~13k - I prefer modern tech though.
Thats Audi A5 money...... My boss' son has one, its actually a decent car
Diesel?
Can be. Might have huge amount of miles though.
Do you want a manual car or are you not fussed? You tend to get more bang for buck from autos, especially with german cars.
With your budget you'll be looking at (this is mostly based on manual diesels):
Highish spec Jag XF (2009-2011) with 50k-100k miles
BMW 3,5 and if you're feeling brave 7 series with either great spec but high miles (e.g. a 5 series M sport diesel with ~80k miles) or basic spec but 4 year old cars
mercedes C class with around the same stuff as the BMWs, albeit either more comfort or smaller engines.
Audi A4s (varying levels) and lowish range A5s. The 4 door ones are worth more and will have (as a rough average) twice the miles of a 2 door. Mainly because they are quite popular lease cars. I found aa nice 2 door example with low miles while I was searching (here)
You'll also find high spec Passat CCs. I'd have a look at one instead of 5 door A5s as you get alot of tech and alot less miles for your car. (have a peak at this)
Thats the only ones I could really think of as a decent option. I have missed some out as they are either a bit too rare to guarantee there are any near you for sale with a decent spec (Alfas are a good option but it can be hard to find a decent one with good service history)
Note that quite a few of the higher mileage basic cars are ex lease so they'll probably have been very well maintained.
How about:Leather, sat nav, bluetooth media (phone pairing), cruise control, daytime lights, auto-lights, electric folding wing mirrors, sat nav, 180BHP+ (rough estimate from what i've seen while browsing auto trader) and under 40K miles (ideally, I got my current car @23k miles).
So that's my ideal list.
I do think it would be hard to leave the BMW iDrive entertainment system as it seems leagues ahead of any other in-car system.
How about:
Jag XF Another XF with more options
3 series wise I can't seem to find many that are either a decent spec and M sport.
Mercedes c 200 Diesel Sport- You can buy them from Mercedes' approved used dea\lers as well.
You could also try the A6 as you can get some top of the range A6s for around what you want.
