Car photos/discussion thread

That looks amazing. To be honest I know that as Fiat owns Chrysler they'd probably use the 300c chassis.

-edit- yeah that sounds big but that car gives off a really strong Dodge Charger/Muscle car vibe.

:o I don't know about the current 300C but the previous one was based on the E-Class platform, it's monumentally big and unsuited to being a euro sports hatch.

It looks fan made to me, but if Fiat were mad enough to even go there surely it would be Gulietta/Dodge Dart/Chrysler 200 based.

Remember the Dodge Charger was based on the 300c platform as well. Good point about the Dart though. I honestly just think the proportions of that car makes me think big car, not so much hatchback.

I guess it could also be based on the Fiat Bravo platform, as all lancia products are currently based on Fiats (the Smallest lancia they sell is a tarted up Fiat 500).

-edit- after further googling I've found that Lancia already sell a rebadged 300c called the Thelma, which is the laziest rebadging of a car I've seen in a while.

The Thelma looks to be a SRT 300c without the engine.

-edit- I've always quite liked the 300c. They're outdated but a nice alternative to the normal lux saloon.

Dropped my car off at the mechanics house this morning for him to take to his garage (quite a way from me). After the car almost killed him by swerving left on the way over which i thought was caused by the rear trailing arm bearings but it turns out the lower control arm ball joint on the passenger side is completely broken :( so another 100 quid to sort that then a 170 quid axle that i got for not much reason :(

One of my rear shocks is creaking - any ideas of the probable cause?

Apparently it could be due to the emergency brake cable..

If a shock is creaking then it need replacing, if its the handbrake, then the cable needs adjusting or shoes or pads need doing.

All in all not a bad job, just so you know if your shock is creaking it would be doing 100% of the time, if its the brakes then itll be when you engage and disengage the handbrake

Ahh I shall disengage the handbrake and test it :)

Ok, just checking, those electric ones are agro!

Haha.

On the topic of car diagnostics with Mr Kambo.

If I'm parked up in neutral, rev the car up, release the pedal. As the revs drop back down it makes a click/clunk. Though I've never heard it while moving.

Any ideas?

Right my initial thoughts are engine/transmission mounts, a bush could be perished or heavily worn.

But if the clunk sounds more metallic, you could have flywheel issues which is £££££

But.....have to address the stupid things first, make sure everything is attached properly under the bonnet ;) airbox is secure, washer bottles etc etc, you'd be surprised how many times ive shit my self because ive heard a clunk and its turned out to be something silly, oh also check the rad is secure and the AC fan etc etc, if its bolt to the chassis, there is a chance for it to work loose

Right I see.

I'll have a look to see if anything is obviously loose, failing that it's gonna have to go to a garage.

EDIT:

Yeah it only happens with the handbrake on.

I've also noticed that the engine is quite rattly - I wonder if it's related to the fact it's chain driven. Does it need oiling or something?

Is this when it is warm? My corsa has the same issue.

Interesting, i wonder if its your diff mounts, only thing i can think of that could do it stationary.

Chain driven engines rely on lube from engine oil, if a chain rattles chances are its slack (rare) or the chain guides are knackered! Thats a big repair bill!

Make a video of said issues, and ill take a look, on the chances im unsuccessful with my diagnoses, should take it to a BMW specialist, get it looked at
