Car photos/discussion thread

My garage is a standard hours size garage, car fits fine, if you keep the car in a garage you wont have to insure it.

Just come and get it, then worry about the details later, id rather see it go to someone who cars then to some knob jokey that wants cheap thrills

Haha if I would I could mate. I'll let you know if I can. I'll do a ring around and see if any of my mates out in the villages have any space. I'd love to have it but I'd have to do so much explaining

Ive done some maintenance work to the R1 today, cleaned the front brakes and replaced the pads.
I took a few pic's as i went.

First start with this, because it has 4 piston calipers the disks need to be semi floating, but they can't do that if they are full of crap.

So I put the nut and bolt with a washer on each side, then use a ratchet to spin the bobbin round, spraying brake cleaner into each one.

Next get the old pads out and take the caliper off, see the build up on each piston, that needs cleaning off, before:

After:

New and old pads, they did have abit of life left, but not much.

Pad holding pin has some slight surface rust.

A light going over with sandpaper takes care of it.

Right side back together.

Leftside back together.

Next job is to bleed the system.
First bit remove the reservoir cap.

Righthand side one first, put load on the lever then open the bleed valve.

I don't know if the pic shows the air coming out, its done once only fluid is coming out.

With both calipers done, its time to do the master cylinder.
This bike has a Brembo unit so has a bleed valve up here, my brother's bike doesn't.

Then to finish it off, check the level in the reservoir, keep in mind its on the sidestand at this point.

That should do it. :)

I use all season tyres, it never snows in the Mediterranean lol :P just got me a set of Nexen N'blue eco's this week though as the ones that came with the car when I bought it where sliding and skidding all around the place, at least now I can drive safely in the rain :) plus they were a bargain at 220 euros for 4 new tyres including installation and wheel balancing :P

ps. my car :)

ah fair enough. got two sets of tires when i bought the car, both in great condition. the winter ones are Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 RFT 225/45 R17

All seasons on the focus.

Saab came with icebears (i think that's how its spelt) winters, 2 were out of shape so that has firestone firehawks now.

S70 has dunlop sportmax.

Got some near slicks coming for the bike, I don't think they will be much good in the cold\wet.

I've never had winter tyres or even considered them but so far this Autumn they've cropped up everywhere. Are they really worth it in the UK?

depends how far away you live from a city. I know a few people who have them who live out in the countryside and swear by them.
