Car photos/discussion thread

Looking at buying a used vw golf because its still too expensive for anything I really, really want. Probably getting a mk4 golf as they're plentiful, cheap to buy and insure AND can look great with some tweaking ;).
Mk1 golfs (and to some extent mk2s) are either all GTis (thus costing £5k to insure) or rust buckets.

Japan making use of crashed cars.

For the record, these are drift missiles. Basically practice cars that you don't mind crashing. For drift practice n stuff.

One of them round here, plus a couple of leafs.

I can see more and more manufactures jumping on the bandwagon, bringing them into the mainstream.

Electric cars are nothing new, been around since 1881.
The baker had a top speed of 14mph with a range of 50 miles, that one dates from 1900.

Yeah they're definitely not new but I just feel Tesla have been one of the first companies in a while to do a push that people like. The Nissan Leaf is ugly as hell.

Also the fact that Tesla made a lot of their patents public was an amazing move and another statement that the company want to see the electric car make strides.

the vw scirocco i had was a 1.4 twin charged. nippy at 160 with no passengers but woefully thirsty. got a e350 merc now that easily doubles the mpg. the for ecoboost 1.0 isnt a bad wee engine. it will cruise nicely with passengers too.

Ecoboosts are terribly named but pretty neat engines. Fave small car engine for me though is the ones they put in Abarth 500s/Puntos. They sound like little Group B rally cars. One of my personal fave hot hatches of all time.
