tbh i would drop back to air just to make sure its not the problem

but then i have flashed gpu bios at -80 with ln2 lol

Cold bugged Opterons are not uncommon - Drop in the stepping detail here and K404 should be able to tell you if that is the issue.

Cold bugged means once the temp drops below zero-ish degrees it locks up.

Try the X2 4600 most of those love the cold.

That fsb is a cold bug limit in the memory controller of the CPU - my record breaking FX60's had the same issue, but also had an unlocked multiplier to maximise the clocks so I am assuming that you are using a memory divider.

If you have unlocked multipliers try setting them at x14 or x15 and then try setting the memory HT setttings to x5 (typically set to x3 or x4 when overclocking) you should see a noticeable performance leap.

The x2 4600 would love that set-up - temps seem well within safe working limits - my FX60's would typically run at -10 to -6 degrees fully clocked so for a single core chip those seem fine if not good.

Trust you are using artic cermique as you thermal paste between phase head and cpu.

Gushing is normal for regassed units or units that use R507 or R402a gas - mine actually farted a few times! (well made a brewing sound for sure).

A lot of peeps do what you have done but most mach units have a 120mm fan at the rear as well to help with the flow around the compressor - if you have room - drop one in.

The grease you are using is okay but not ideal - sounds like lots of fun right now though.

Enjoy.

Unlocked opty, show me how? Its stuck on 12 multi,

Yea Mav will put the 4600 in later this week, got to get some ceramic grease, current thermatake premium as artic silver 5, a nono.

One think I need advice on, is the cooler, its really quite when stating but after about20 minutes’ gushing type noises now and again, trust its ok, dosent affect temps. I just put another fan on the front of the condenser, now push pull, the case is a lot cooler,

I think I better start a new thread, blindfitter and subzero cooling, as I think it will grow, really enjoying the new found power, mav you said it was the way to go, your right,

Cheers

as mav said.. funny noises from the unit

thats normal :D

wait till it farts and wakes you up at night :p
