Mine does that when I have failed on an OC, if it is unstable or if I have just set the values to get to that OC. It also does it when the 5v standby has been cut off so that the board is completely isolated from power though it is usually resulting in a reset of the BIOS and reconfiguring it which is annoying but.. it is a brilliant motherboard in the end of the day
One cause of your BSOD's is your voltage.. I think that it is too low, up it to say around 1.3v and you should be fine, if it does it without any problems.. then you can work your way down until it is stable but at a lower voltage.
