Can't get past 400x8 and Vista reports 2.13Ghz?!

i thought standard overclocking 'policy' is SMALL STEPS not 266, to 400, to something else? i assume you're testing everything inbetween? jumping from 2.4 to 3 then 3.2 and then trying something else just because you think it can do it and then giving up for 3.2 is silly? try it in smaller steps it might just help you out?

Yea that is a good idea, start at 2.4(the stock) find stable voltages etc... then increase the fsb by 50 each time if it doesnt post add a little Vcore to it

once you reach say 2.7 start in screasing at 20 fsb slowly increasing voltages where necesary and testing for stability

This may take for ever but this is how you work a good overclock you find the boundaries etc

I actually did this, just didnt bother posting it hehe. I went up from 266 in 25 fsb increments.

to be honest just seems like you have been unlucky and got a cpu from a bad batch thats all i can really say, with my last q6600 i couldnt get it passed 2.9 on an Asus striker

i say just find your max overclock that you are comfortable with and leave it at that unless some knows somthign else

got mine to 3.72ghz on here.

Just slap those voltages up FULL!! and work your way down...actually, dont.

Be gentle and keep trying, my computer takes 2 power on's to get going. first one for the voltages to get into the mobo (i think) then the second one for main power throughout.

Its weird i know but its what it does

And your sure it's still OCed to 3.72Ghz? Mine does that when the OC failed :S

Mine does that when I have failed on an OC, if it is unstable or if I have just set the values to get to that OC. It also does it when the 5v standby has been cut off so that the board is completely isolated from power though it is usually resulting in a reset of the BIOS and reconfiguring it which is annoying but.. it is a brilliant motherboard in the end of the day :)

One cause of your BSOD's is your voltage.. I think that it is too low, up it to say around 1.3v and you should be fine, if it does it without any problems.. then you can work your way down until it is stable but at a lower voltage.

Sorry if I am bringing up an old topic.. it just seemed to me that it hasn't been sorted.

he has tried it at 1.325v and this didnt seem to help him :(

Any news on how this is going btw
