Cant get a 4770k past 4.4ghz on Water

Hey guys, Im the proud owner of a 4770k and im cooling it with a H105.
Its stable a 4.4 @1.25volts (i tried turning it down to 1.2volts but is failed), but when i put it 4.5, at every voltage increment up to and inc 1.29 (i know not to go higher) it crashes
here are screenshots of my bios and occt stress test after 30mins @4.4Ghz @1.25volts

so that's what I'm doing and as you can see, temps etc all with reason. now the more keen eyed of you will notice the occt and cpuz are showing the CPU @.856 volts. when TTL reviewed this board (well the G65) he said that its a bios issue about voltage displays and as you can see from the bios pic im at 1.25 volts

So my question is am i doing anything (majorly) wrong here? is 4.4 on water is respectable and i have been deluded by all this vids of other peeps getting 4.5 on air/4.7-4.8 on water just getting cherry picked examples and ive just had some bad luck in the silicon lottery?

A couple of things,

- Don't leave your memory on default settings and voltage as it may need loosened to allow your overclock. I noticed that the XMP profile is at 1.65V but your board is only (automatically) giving 1.632.

- The core voltage isn't the only voltage that may need adjusting. I've upped the VCCIN up a few millivolts from the 1.75V on my xpower mobo. I've read that you shouldn't go above 1.8V on VCCIN and no more than 1.3V on the CPU Ring voltage. Remember, small adjustments, lots of testing!

Id have expected 4.6 as an average tbh. Follow our overclocking guide and make sure youve disabled all the things you should have in the CPU menu etc.

If you have done everything we suggested then you have just got a meh cpu

With my two 4770k's I have had, at around 1.25v they required 1.85ish VCCIN. So make sure and up that a bit. As stated by others, make sure and loosen your memory. I'd even go as low as 1333mhz with default settings @ 1.5v.

It's been awhile since I messed with the g45 I have, which I assume has similar settings to your g65, make sure and change your LLC to the second or highest setting. I think it is in percentages on that board, and the highest setting will provide more voltage than what you set in the bios (VCCIN, that is) so make sure and be aware of that. the 86.5% is the setting that I used on my g45.

Thanx guys, I manually entered the RAM timings. I tried to change the Ram voltage but it looks like anything where the AUTO isnt in brackets i cant change. i was just hoping i could get it at least 4.5 before i would have to really start fiddling with the bios

Tom thanx for replying to my thread. I have watched your overclocking guide sooo many times, to the point where i have downloaded it (bit naughty i know) to a usb stick so i can watch it on my PS3 while im in the PC bios

yep realised that when i did it lol (thought i need to hit "enter" 1st)
well i turned the ram timing down, upped the volts on the Ram to 1.65, upped the VCCIN to 1.8, upped the vcore to 1.26v, tried 4.5Ghz and it crashed
so i think im gonna have do admit defeat. Ive either hit the limit of my cpu or the limit of on OCing ability

Im same boat. 4.4@1.22V but just can't get it completely stable at 4.5 no matter what I do. I can boot at 4.5 and run everyday programs or games, but stress test it crashes about 15 minutes in. I eventually settled in at 4.3@1.18V as it runs beautifully there.

Hi, i have posted similiar topic few days ago. I have GD65 and same CPU. Please could you check batch number my is L334B837. My only stable set is 4.3 Ghz ~ 1,180 or 1.125 V and DRAM 1333. I get on 4.4, 4.5 many BSOD any 85C+ temps so my OCCT quit aotmatically.

you shouldnt need to touch the vring much if at all. You may need to up the chipset volts a little bit to get it sound. Its all about testing to see what YOUR system needs.

Thats why I dont like people handing over settings, you dont learn anything and it normally causes more problems when people start freaking out it didnt work on "the same cpu"
