Can't decide (Nvidia or ATI?)

I think in this instance it's in his best interest to stay AGP and get one of the nicer AGP cards available on the market.

@mehrune: Regarding that PSU you purchased... Is it too late to cancel the order? That would be one of those PSU's on my list of "never purchase one of these". Unfortunately Thermaltake doesn't have a stronghold on the PSU market. I know that you're strapped for cash but to be honest your current Dell PSU may be better than the Thermaltake TR2 you picked up. I'd be interested to see how it fares on the OC3D load tester...

Well, it's not too late to cancel actually. It's currently in 'Step 1'.

Step 1: Your order has been successfully submitted. Your credit/debit card has not yet been charged. Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to process and ship.

My current PSU provides 300 watts, not enough for the Powercolor I chose.

What's a good recommendation? From what I know, I need a 20+4-Pin main connector, and the size must fit in my tower case, and in this case, a reviewer posted (regarding the Thermaltake) that he bought it and he had the same model as I do(Dimension 8300), and it was a good fitting for his 6600GT.

I'm never buying another computer from Dell.

Once you get in to custom computer building you'll never buy another retail machine in your life :)

I would imagine that PSU is a standard ATX sized PSU so you should be able to buy anything with the correct ATX header will fit nicely in your case.

Check out the Enermax 420w... Nick could give you more details on it. I put the same one in my moms new Intel work rig and it's worked out great thus far!

Order cancelled :yumyum:

Hm....I'll change to Sapphire since ALL the people I asked suggest it.

As for my PSU, I'll take a look again, yea, I definitely need something decently quiet, since I think the case has bad air circulation. Enermax seems like a good deal though, 80 bucks and instant savings. :worship:

i am currently assisting on his buyings..

he just canceled both orders (PSU and graphics)

uhmmm fragtek do u mean this?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103459

because he needs to dril a hole on the back of his dell case for the on/off button of the psu.. but that can be easily accomplished with the help of a dremel...

and also Sapphire or Powercolor?? we are trying to decide that right now

Edit: can u overclock dells?? cpu wise.. do they have like an option in the bios? lol

Dell bios' are terible. They give you the time, amount of ram and if your lucky the speed of you CPU. So a new mobo would be in order if you wanted that. Can you not get ASRock mobos in america? The 939Dual may be woth looking at for him, as it would allow his to go to PCI-E later.

Saying that though all teh dells ive upgraded/fixed/burned were small cases and its a pretty fat mobo.

I got all the stuff yesterday (Newegg rocks, stuff arrived in 3 days).

Got a 3*3 cm hole cut out by Xin (dell's metal part of the case is THICK). After one hour of testing this and that, we finally got the x800GTO to work. :worship:

Ran BF 2 at high, Republic Commando at max. I'll test FEAR and Oblivion during the weekend. Thanks a lot for all your opinions. =D

:nono: for Dell, again, ever.
