Can you use too much sealer when installing CPU Kit

Guys,

Pease see attached piccie of how I sealed my last DFI mother board.

You can see that I packed the sealer all around any exposed metal parts that would lie underneath the CPU KIT. This was do not offer some protection to those parts from condedsation.

Am I doing this right? Or should I just stay with using the strip on the edge of the CPU kit and leave all the other parts exposed?

What about the center of the CPIU socket, does anyone put any sealer in there?

Any other hints and tips regarding this would be appreciated.

I now have an ASUS P4C800-E (after 3 blow outs on the lanparty MOBO!!) - there are electronic components and solder joints inside the strip perimeter on this one too - I just want to make sure that my installation is as safe as it can be.

Cheers

use can either use neophene to fill in the centre or just fill it up with dilectric/silicone grease. using the string to cover the exposed area will be fine but be care when removing it as it will probably rip out so components on the board along with it. i usually just grease the entire area and had no condensation ever on my board.

Is it OK to use heatsink silicon thermal compound?

I have used the string and it does not appear the have pulled any components from it?

Do you have a link of somewhere to purchase the silicone grease from?

I also read that conformal coating and PCB lacquer is good for this also - I just want to be sure that in the event of and RMA I use a produst that is easily removed for warranty reasons.

I respect your discretion and thank you for the info.

Phil, Is this something you would recommend/use yourself?

Is it something that EP should supply?

Just to let you know that I have put a squirt of WD40 in the socket and it has thus far worked OK.

Will keep you informed if things change but looks promising.
