Can I Run 3 Drives in Raid 1

I'm thinking with my new rig in going to raid 1, 3 caviar green drives. Is that possible? I'm just curious.

There is a RAID you can run with 3 drives but I believe it's RAID 5.. I'm no expert though... Someone with more knowledge will be along shortly no doubt

I'm only using a motherboard controller. I've heard that raid 5 only run at optimal performance on a raid card.

Why would you want to do that. Raid 1 is mirroring. I think triple redundancy is bit overkill for home use.

Yeah 1 needs to be pairs really. unless it was 2x1TB and 1x2tb


Oboard raid isnt all that unless its 0 and/or performance isnt required.

Thats why donkey's like me have £800 stupid raid cards

Yeah. I want to run 3, 3tb greens in my machine and I was unsure.
