Can I overclock?

Posted all the info I could get. I would really like to overclock my computer, if someone could help me out, I would be very thankful.

Just paste this into your URL box

Before you try overclocking, you need to make sure your cpu temps are safe.

I like core temp but there are other programs out there.

If you get around 50*C - 55*C on load then you do not want to overclock

Most people clock by changing BIOS settings, so if you have access to those you can overclock. Even if you don't, you might be able to overclock some by using the Asus AI Booster (provided your mobo supports it) but the AI Booster always locks up my computer

this thread will help you with amd clocking basics.

It's a bit dated, so there are a few things you'll have to disregard

-keep the HTT at or under 2000MHz (and not 1000MHz) in your case

-max cpu voltage still seems to be around 1.5V on air

-ram voltages are going to be different for you, the [jedec] standard ddr2 voltage is 2.1V whereas the [jedec] ddr voltage is somewhere around 2.5 V or 2.6 V

-pci/agp lock is obsolete, you'll probably see a pci-e clock and pci clock

messing with the pci-e clock has never worked out for me...wouldn't affect the cpu speed at all anyway. Keeping the pci clock at 33MHz is a good idea

what?

"If you get around 50*C - 55*C on load then you do not want to overclock"

What does on load mean?

Like while computer is loading or while gaming

Anyway I'm getting anything between 35-45 having only one of my gauges being the highest 45 for some reason or else im ok with temperatures

Right now not running anything these are my readings: 37, 33, 36, 13, 44

:amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd::amd:

load is when you look at the task manager and all cores show 100%

you can run a program like prime95 or occt to fully load your cpu and see what your load temps are

Using Speedfan____________________________________________

So I ran prime95 for 15 minutes and I got these readings:

47,33,36,24,43 Celsius But when I ran OCCT for only 5 minutes I got the same results

48,33,36,24,43 is what i got when running occt for 10 minutes

Using Core Temp___________________________________________

I am guessing I have been looking at the wrong gauges because the program you suggested, which I just download is telling me that my Core1 is 24 degrees and that my Core2 is 20 degrees

While still running OCCT and PRIME95 for the same timeblocks

Which is a considerable difference O.o

If anyone would want to later on do a step by step with me in chat, that would be great. Because I am pretty clueless right now. :(

I never did have much luck getting speedfan to give me temps (mostly because I couldn't distinguish between the sensors)

without a screenshot, I'd guess your temps are 47 & 43.

You probably won't want to increase the cpu voltage by too much

I just said I used coretemp and got 21 and 24, are you talking about something else?

That screen shot is after using OCCT for an hour.

I was talking about your speedfan temps that you posted

I kinda doubt that your cpu is running that cool at 100% load (I'm assuming you're using the stock heatsink&fan, please correct me if I'm wrong here)

that or your room is literally freezing

I got my pc custom built so I dont know if its stock or what its a:

CoolerMaster Hyper TX2 Gaming CPU Cooling Fan

I am pretty sure.

Yes, I am sure this is what I have and heres a link to it on newegg,

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103031

dont know how good it is though.

This is getting annoying, but I tried Speedfan and hmonitor and pc probe at the same time and they showed the same temp. They are both showing me 51 degrees after running for about 8 minutes of OCCT on the CPU only setting. but when I put OCCT on the mix setting my pc stays a bit cooler, about 49 after 17 minutes

haha

Are you the only one that will post on this topic?!!!!!

:damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn::damn::damn:

Well what is your question... If it's are those temps low enough to give you some headroom to overclock then it's really down to what your comfortable running it at. Feel free to overclock it a little bit but I would advise not to let the temps get above 60 degrees for any length of time.

Those temps you are reporting could be correct on a well ventilated case using an aftermarket heatsink and fan.

My question

My question originally was can I overclock I have my answer, now I am wondering if anyone can explain to me how to do it like in the chat box or through xfire. I have read many guides and tutorials and I am lost.

I have next to no experience with overclocking that gen of AMD processors, but I know a few people on here do. Let's just hope those people catch a glimpse of this and can give you a few pointer :)

I want to overclock as much as possible but still have my pc be stable. Also I do not want my PC to overheat, but I can and probably will improve my cooling if it is needed.
