Can I OC with this air cooler?

Im buying an i2500k/i3570k. I dont have plans on buying a new CPU cooler as I've been happy with my current, which is a Noctua NH-U12P with 2 fans (looks like this)

Can I safely OC with this cooler or should I invest in one of those Corsair water coolers?

yh you can comfortably OC with that cooler just make sure you check your temps and manually set your volts and you'll be fine

I actually had planned (with the mobo I bought used thats on its way) to use its Automatic OC. Its an Intel DP67BG and from what I can read it has a sort of "slider" in Bios where you can simply choose the GHz speed you want and it does it automatically.

Would this be a bad idea? I've never, ever OC'd manually. My current mobo also has Automatic OC, where I simply choose 5/10/15/20%.

ide never recommend auto overclocks because the motherboard nearly always sets more volts than what is actually needed.

its really not dude it just seems abit scary at first but if you watch Toms guide you wont go wrong.

Awesome.

Gonna be a while still, as im debating with myself whether to get the 2500k or 3570k. People say the 2500k clocks better but to actually get higher performance as opposed to the 3570k you need to clock it to like 4.8GHz which seems insanely high, whereas the 3570k only needs a little bit of clocking and you more or less have the same performance of a highly clocked 2500k.

At least thats what I read most places.

i personally would go for the 3570k. it has a better memory controller so can handle faster memory. its also newer architecture and does perform better although at slightly warmer temps

so yeah all in all ide go with the 3570k. ive got one and its running at 4.2 and performing wonderfully never goes above 55 even after hours of heavy use
