Calling out to experienced TV Card/capture types

Hey, I`ve been looking for a card to do ..

Recording of digital and analogue PAL stuff, including sound stereo and above.

Recording straight to DVD *would be nice* not a big deal tho.

Scheduling *would be nice*, although I gather this`d have to be a freeview sorta thing ???

Remote *would be nice*, although not critical.

Mainly the purpose of the setup is going to be taking Sky+ feed to record to either dvd or nice size file to HDD for play by mediaplayer especially. The less effing about the better in this case.

Would like to have the analogue option to transfer some old VHS shizzle.

All the other features, *would be nice*, are exactly that - not critical.

Scan have a Today thing going, and have a KWorld TV & Video Capture section further down.

Now I have no doubt Hauupage or similar may do a better product, but as they seem so silly cheap, I`d like to pick from these Scan ones listed. Besides I got a basket going, so postage is paid ;)

Very much appreciated as always.

I have a KWorld external TV capture box and it sucks, the quality is terrible and it skips. I hear that the Hauppauge PRV-150 is really good and somewhat reasonable, I am in America so no idea if they are the same there.

Sounds like you need a hybrid card there fella. Something like the Avermedia A16AR or the avermedia A828 both of which i personally have and use daily :D

For sky +

Just go for scart to svhs and capture with the avermedia app or use something like christv that might be able to scheduel recording from a composite device (svhs or composite)

You can select that format to capture analogue in no problem but if you want to capture freeview youre left capturing the stream as its broadcast, but thats no biggie to convert :D

Thanks for the heads up on the suck factor.

Do u think it`s more to do with it being external than being a crappy make ?

Thnx for the other ideas, I was really hoping these cards would be kewl so I could just add one >.<

Well I can't say which it is but I wouldn't buy from a company that produces such junk. I have also read reviews on their other products and they are very mixed, so it maybe a QC problem, but I would stay clear of them.

Thats good enough for me, I`ll checkout some of the other options.

Dear god no no and god no. Kworld.. I wouldnt even touch them with Jim thing.. For the love of god... no

(yes they are that bad... unless you like your interfaces written in comic sans)

Ah, I think I may have an avenue for adventure of the free kind.

Any1 got any experience of a Pinnacle Callisto (Studio Delux) ? Spose to be an expensive dvi/vga editing thingy.

It`s gonna do all the capturing I want to do, apparantly, with a little lean toward dvideo that I may not be interested in, but it`ll do the majority of what I want at mans best price.
