Calculating My Needs

Hi guys,

If I need to calculate if my PSU is strong enough can I just simply add up all the max wattage needs of each component and subtract that from the PSU Wattage?

If so what margin do I want left at the end for it to be stable?

Cheers

Just give us the hardware in the PC, we'll give you a safe wattage to pick from depending on needs. PSU calculators are just guessestimates anyway.

Ok, can do. Was thinking could be easier if i just did and excel spreadsheet and then i could keep changing up the specs to see what i like and what fits.

I'll type out the base specs in a minute.

Yes, that'll work but there's a lot of stuff inside the PC to add up. :p

CPU, GPU, Memory, Hard Drives, SSD, Optical Drive, all the circuitry on the Motherboard (VRMs, LDOs, Audio Circuitry, Southbridge/Northbridge), Case Fans etc.

It can be done, but it's just too much bother to do so.
