Cables sleeving

Hi guys starting sleeving my 6+2 on my evga power supply and noticed there is a cap on the 6 pin at the gpu side. Is it safe to remove it? or what would be the best way to hide it

Thanks

The capacitor is placed there just to smooth ripple as close to the component as possible as probably at least a third stage of suppression. Any quality component your plugging it into (ie graphics card) will have further capacitors to smooth the input so personally I wouldn't worry about removing it at all. It probably benefits PSU tests far more than anything else.

Personally I wouldn't sleeve stock cables, although it will save you the work of crimping new wires, which really isn't that hard the wire manufacturers use isn't best suited to sleeving. Plus you can then make everything exactly the right length and remove any un-needed daisy chains ie. you can make a PSU > 6pin or 8pin rather than a PSU > 6+2pin.

This is what I would use, in the respective colour of your sleeving to make it more vibrant or black to make it darker. The larger diameter and PVC insulation make it interact really nicely with plastic sleeve and paracord too, creating long flowing curves rather than tight wibbly weirdness. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/cables-wires/wire-single-core-cable/switchgear-tri-rated-cable/#esid=4294959953&applied-dimensions=4294287923

Thanks for the advice JR , I went ahead and cut them off to make it easier, I agree I would of liked to have shortened them and changed them to a 6 and 8 pin instead of 6+2. But I don't have a crimper for the pins yet so thought this would be easier.

Definitely a learning curve started getting a bit better near the end , it's so much more time consuming than I thought :)
