hi.

having some serious issues with my connection today.

having trouble browsing, can take 5-6 reloads before a page loads.

even have this problem on www.google.se

i have reason to believe the problem is on my end.

when i check the logs i can see that the modem has no problem keeping the connection up and alive.

i checked with my isp and they dont have problems where i live.

when i try to repair the connection i get an error.

Repair could not be finished.

clean netbt.

i checked the computer with both xsoftspy and spybot search&destroy and also symantec online virusscan its all clean.

also tried rebooting the cablemodem but no change.

at the moment the problem comes and goes.

any ideas what it can be ?

tried with the firewall disabled but the problem persist, zonealarm.

Regards

At a guess, BT (Net Bios over TCP/IP), part of wins has got a fictional DNS server in it, and keeps sending DNS requests to it. So clearing or disabling NetBios will probably fix it.

type in cmd...

tracert www.google.se

screenshot it and show it here

cant match targetcomputers name http://www.google.se

i also tried pinging a couple of places i have succesfully pinged in the past and got this response.

ping request could not find target computer, check name and try again.

is in the process to eliminate all unneccessary running processes to se if it helps.

will try and disable netbios and se what happens.

now it worked, ran it twice against 2 different google ip adresses.

Try switching off modem, then in command prompt type 'ipconfig/flushdns', should get the message 'dns cache successfully resolved'. Now restart modem and try websites.

tried ipconfig /renew in the command prompt and got an error message saying it failed to make a connection to the dhcp server.

request timed out.

reset all settings in the modem to zero and ran ipconfig /flushdns while the modem was off.

didnt work, crashed at clean netbt

checked the system logs and netbt is in there, error id 4311.

initiation failed as the driver could not be created.

also have an error on dhcp, error id 1002.

ip adress loan 83.248.167.xxx for ethernetcard on adress 0013d39a4f77 have been denied by dhcp-server on 192.168.100.1

dhcp server sent a dhcpnack message.

192.168.100.1 is the adress i use to access my modem.

...then reboot the modem :) Unplug the powercord from the modem and leave for 10-15 secs, plug the cord back in and watch the status lights on the modem. What type of cable modem do you have? I have a Motorolla SB4200

hmm seems like you have a dns problem...complain to your ISP and they may send you a new modem or at least diagnose it from their end.
