C2D E6850 3.90Ghz OC Issue Nailed/Fixed(Stable):)

It took me nearly forever to figure out why the OC was only stable for a few days and then BSOD on me.

Erm try because I kept leaving VTT FSB on auto.

!Doh!

><

CPU FSB Frequency

434

CPU Ratio

9

FSB 1:1

CPU Vcore 1.575v

Memory Voltage 2.1v

Dram Timings

5-5-5-18

NB

1.3v

VTT

1.3v

Here is a just over ten minute run on prime 95 screenshot but others prefer to stress the crap out of the CPU on blend for half an hour or over night.

All this on air cooling using a Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2.

(Running Prime95)

60-63 degrees.

Idle Temps After Test

33-34 degrees.

And for anyone saying oh your vcore is too high well, I did some research on that just to make sure.

It seems because my C2D E6850 3.0Ghz Conroe is manufactured at a 65nm process they can take more volts through them, then say newer CPU's.

According to some but this is still hear say but still.><

And Battlefield 3 runs flawlessly now no jerkiness, no BSOD's nada.

Go figure no wonder my temps are fine even at these OC settings.

Thanks and yes definitely, I have only been overclocking for a couple of years (Started on and off since high school but been more into in recent years.) but with PC building experience prior (Most of my time in education primary onwards, I am 20+ nearly 21 now. Finished college over two years ago.) but, I am still a tad cautious about water cooling (Don't want to fry my hardware lol.

) but if you had seen my case.

To most people they couldn't understand how such an old Antec case designed with bad airflow and cable management wise is so cool well hehe because I am so anal and OCD no doubt, I have air being sucked in through a 120mm front fan (manual switch speed adjustable) and a 120mm side panel fan and then being blown out the back by a 140mm fan (manual switch speed adjustable) full blast but they're are very quiet fast fans so no worries.

Only one hard drive in the hard drive bay mounted so this allows for more air to past through the case and the side one runs slower then all the others because it is my most oldest one, I have no idea who makes it.

Just that it has a golf ball design so air passes through much easier and my CPU cooler is adequate and the thermal paste compared to my old stuff is a life saver temp wise.
