Bulldozer shipping to OEMs!

most hi-end (non enthusiast) AMD cpus have retailed at ~£250 upon launch.

(remember when they launched the 1090T ???)

i predict similar prices, although higher BD (interlagos and terramar) chips will be over £350

ouch. I was expecting that. I may get one if it beats the i7 2600K. I kinda doubt that. Call me a cynic. I saw $320 for the 3.6GHz BD. My cynicism isn't unfounded. It's only got 1 FPU per BD module (4 total, same as the i5 2500K). I don't know if BD will beat an OCd 2500K. I hope it does though. AMD deserves to be king for a day.

They were king for a bit...A64. They don't deserve the crown now unless they deliver.

If they fail to beat Intel's SB (i7 2600K) and 1366 (SB beats it in some benchmarks), they'll hold the performance crown and be king. Then LGA 2011 will come out...

please amd dont mess up

Bah the delays are killing me..

I'm really itching for a new system but the lack of solid info on the desktop Bulldozer means I am turning to Intel. If I had some reviews that showed BD at least compeating with i5/i7 in the gaming arena I might wait but the internet is barren so I'm gonna start spec serch for intel. Sorry AMD you just stummbled along for to long.

This is what I don't get. Bulldozer will also be AM3 compatible, so when we will see a chip that is AM3+ exclusive? AM3+ has a different pin count than AM3, so what was the point of changing the pin count if bulldozer can also be used for AM3? I think BD/E will be AM3+ only.

All too well I remember

I can see why they might have the BDs cheaper than they are romoured to be as when they get released they'll be competing against Intel's latest bunch too, not current gen Sandybridge, so what we consider ultra high end now will just snugly slot into the high end bracket

terramar replaces interlagos

but yea they should cost more then regular desktop zambezi and future komodo cpus

i think zambezi is gonna be around the 289 - 319 USD

The way I understand it is Bulldozer will be AM3/AM3+. BD/E will be AM3+ and AM4. While Bulldozer is AM3 backward compatible it won't have all its features enabled. For example, if you use AM3 motherboard you won't get Hyper Transport 3.1 you'll only be able to get 3.0, another thing could be the modules instead of being read as 2 cores each, will only be seen as one core.

I found pricing info for you guys. It's WAY cheaper than expected. The FX 8150 (pretty sure it's the flagship, 8 core @ 3.9GHz, 4.5GHz turbo) is $230.

Here's the link http://www.extremete...an-sandy-bridge

FX-6100: $155

FX-8120: $185

FX-8150: $230

They mentioned that early benchmarks indicated that it underperformed SB, and that they were priced to sell, rather than compete. Lame. I guess we'll only know the facts once it's released, as early models had performance issues.

If all that is real, i'm going for the 8120. the extra 200mhz price increase is not enough. Besides, they are probably the same chip just with different clock, just like the 955 and 965 were and i am pretty sure the 1090t as well as the 1100t were.
